An ultra dank, piney West Coast IPA made with Virgil Gamache Farms Columbus T90, Columbus T45, and Columbus Cryo.

Here are Fort George, we are always trying to increase our wealth… of beer offerings. Whenever our hop farming friends come up with some new exciting hop strain or revolutionary hop product – we’re going to be the first to try it out.

To make Dank Tales, we worked with hop farmers at Virgil Gamache Farms Inc. and the brewers at Trap Door Brewing, adding Columbus T45, Columbus T90 and Columbus Cryo into three separate tanks, tasting them all and then blending them together. The result is dank and delicious

Brewer's Notes
Hops: Strata, Amarillo, Columbus, Columbus T45, Columbus T90, Columbus Cryo

Malt: Rahr Pils, Linc Buzz Pale, Linc White Wheat, Weyermann Acidulated

Look: Pale, almost straw yellow in color with a sudsy white head that builds and rapidly settles to a lid, leaving sheets of lacing behind

Aroma: Pink grapefruit, Meyers lemon, fruity Cannabis, cara cara orange, pine, blueberries, and some diesel

Taste: Opens up with a hit of slightly sweet and slightly tart grapefruit that sets the shape before being pushed aside as resinous and sticky pine sap, needles, and Meyers lemon burst onto the scene. Fruit and diesel-forward Cannabis in a multitude of ways dominates the middle, cut into by sharp citrus and pine on occasion before closing with a nice bite

Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, medium-high carbonation, and dry on the finish

Overall: I dig it. A new-to-me WCIPA that leans dank is always something I’m down for and this one is a tasty and well-made one indeed. The usual cast of characters is present and my only knock would be that based on the name and hop bill, I assumed a full-on dank assault, which to me, it wasn’t – even when compared to other Fort George beers. It’s still delicious though and if anything, will appeal more to those who don’t want a terpene bomb of a beer

Pour is an unfiltered pale straw color, very thin head and low lacing. Nose is fruity but low on the promoted dankness. Hops dominate the taste upfront, creating a highly flavorful taste with exceptionally smooth results but modest on the "dankness" side. Exceptionally long finish. Overall, it is a beer for hop lovers.
