Poured at fridge temp. Pours pitch black and thick. Minimal brown head. The nose is insane on this one. The vanilla pops immediately, and it's amazing. The bourbon comes through, as does the cacao. Slight hint of dark fruit.
The taste is fantastic. More complex than the vanilla-dominated nose. The vanilla definitely plays a big role on the taste, but getting a lot of other flavors here. The bourbon stands out more, along with chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, blackberries, toffee pudding, graham crackers, and a very slight hint of banana. As it warms, a really nice salted black licorice note appears. A touch of molasses as well. Absolutely wonderful to sip. It's one of those beers that I wish would never end.
The mouthfeel is thick and creamy. The aftertaste is dominated by boozy bourbon.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a snifter at 56 degrees.
Look- Very deep brown, dark brown frothy head, opaque, plentiful large visible particulate at the margins, below average lacing, slightly below average head retention.
Smell- Whiskey, cacao, vanilla, coffee, slight cherry, high strength of scent.
Taste- Whiskey dominant, cacao, coffee, vanilla, very high strength of flavor.
Feel- Medium body, slightly below average carbonation, silky, highly bitter, highly mouth warming, highly mouth coating, mildly creamy.
Overall- Outstanding appearance, I would have rated it as a 5 with better head retention and lacing. Bouquet was as close to a 5 as it could get without being a 5. Flavor was whiskey dominated, but the other flavors were perfect complements making this a complex and interesting beer worthy of a 5 flavor rating. Feel was very good all around, but the body was thinner than expected resulting in my 4.5 rating. Overall this beer was complex with vibrant flavor and scent. It was delicious and provided a wonderful drinking experience. This was an improvement over base Matryoshka and also the best variant I’ve had to date.
