this is a stunner, and as much as i have not jumped on the adjunct stout train with the masses, i loved this. i trust these guys to do anything and everything well, pretty much all of their beers are cant miss offerings, so naturally i couldnt miss this one, and i am so glad i didnt, as good as it sounds like it should be, super well proportioned, still beery, just fabulous, and actually something i want to drink more than a little bit of, which is quite rare for me with these. sounds like its made with a ton of actual nutty buddy treats, which lets be real, are old school but still totally rule, and there are some nice touches to this, roasted peanuts and sea salt, along with an additional peanut butter element to really drive that richness and authenticity home, hard to get nuts to show up in beer, so nice call there, and it also has cocoa powder and cacao nibs in it, to pump up the chocolate, all of this is so tastefully dosed, the big stout base is predictably killer from these guys, and neat that there is no barrel on it, none needed! aromas and flavors of actual nutty buddy, so cool! the real peanut element is strong, the salt cuts the sweet this has, and its not all that sugary really, i get the wafer among the malt, i get the peanut butter for sure, notes of brown sugar and toffee and milk chocolate in play, light smoke, lots of roast, good espresso and especially its crema, some nice bitterness in play to balance out all the extras, and a quicker finish than these usually have but still all the needed silky viscosity and weird, this really is incredible beer. usually i hate powdered peanut butter in these, but here its just a supplement to the nutty buddy and the real nuts, so its more authentic on the whole, love how nutty this is overall. the salt hits so nicely with the peanut and chocolate together, a genius addition. palate coating but in a wonderful way, delicious beer, like a better version of this famous snack, so impressive how well this comes together, the salt at the end, wow. dont miss this one, leagues better than the standard in this style, beer first, finest quality, loved it!

Tap at Roscoe's in Portland. Colour is basic black with a thick tan head. Nose is delicately nutty with hints of chocolate. Palate is tangy, chocolatey and loaded with ....well....Nutty Buddy notes. There's some ashen notes on the mid palate and a long, tannic finish with notes of Cocoa Puffs.
