This is the way the name was spelled at the bar where I had it, please correct if needed. Served in straight pint glass. Poured an attractive honey-gold color with about 1/4 inch of white head that had very low retention and lacing.
The aroma was very malt forward, a bit on the sweet side, had no noticeable hop presence, and had a slight alcohol aspect. The beer is fairly neutral at the front of the tongue, then a bit of grain shows up. The heat starts building across the middle, and the alcohol burn dominates the finish. There is a bit of sweetness to counter the burn, but the warmth lingers.
The body was definitely fuller than the mini-mart brands of the style, and a touch fuller than the craft versions I've tried. Drinkability was surprisingly good, the beer was smoother than the mini-mart versions. Overall, this beer gives the style a good name. Certainly worth a shot if you see it.
