Like Austin's famous swimming hole, our Barton Springs Pale Ale is refreshing. Perfectly balanced, bitter undertones combine with citrus and floral aromas while light crystal malts add sweetness & copper color. Pairs well with everything, especially great company.

Look is a nice light copper color with off-white head that falls off quickly.
Smell is piney with citrus. Not much in the way of malts on the nose, but its very clean.
Taste is very balanced, hop forward with a lot of pine and citrus notes that really hold on through the finish. Malts show later to balance out, but the hops are more prominent.
Feel is light-medium with a clean, crisp finish. Bitterness thoughout, but not overwhelmingly so.
Overall, this is a real bargain and one of my favorite local pales. Drink fresh, drink often.

There is nothing like opening a box from the mighty JenRay who routinely sends me CANs from Texas! This one arrived recently and since I got a pic approved, I am going to dive right in.
From the CAN: "Beer & Happiness are the Same - Both are Better Shared."; "Share One with a Friend or Two"; "Like Austin's famous swimming hole, our Barton Springs Pale Ale is refreshing. Perfectly balanced, bitter undertones combine with citrus and floral aromas while light Crystal malts add sweetness & copper color. Pairs well with everything, especially great company."; ""Hand crafted in Austin Texas".
I love the dulcet tones of a good, loud Crack! and this one really came through! The auditory nature of CANs is just one more thing that sets them apart from that scourge called "bottles". A solid Glug and I was looking at just over a finger of foamy, tawny head with decent retention that began to leave sticky lacing as it fell. Color was a hazy Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) and I begin to get the impression that they do not get hung up on filtration at Uncle Billy's. Fine by me! Nose held a light pine mintiness underlain by a soft grapefruit-citrusiness. It was very low-key, but good for the style. Mouthfeel was medium. The hops worked well in conjunction with one another, giving the taste a minty-citrus flavor that was quite enjoyable. Finish was dry, but only slightly beyond semi-dry. It was like the old Schlitz slogan, "Just the kiss of the hops".
