On-tap at Uncle Billy's. Served in a 10oz snifter.
The bourbon barrel-aged Smoked Baltic Porter pours like it should--rich, dark black body with a nicely retained cap of custard head. The aroma is amazing: rich whiskey and vanilla notes from the oak barrels blend perfectly against a backdrop of roasty porter and a kiss of smoke.
I would like to have the non-BA version of the Smoked Baltic Porter to compare, because the bourbon completely dominated the flavor profile. Not to say that was a bad thing--it most certainly wasn't--but the smokiness was almost nonexistent and the porter flashed only briefly beneath the huge whiskey presence. Mouthfeel was a bit thin but well carbonated and surprisingly drinkable despite the perceptible booziness. Overall, a tasty beer. I would definitely order this again if given the chance.
