Pint at Henry's 12st Street Tavern in Portland, reviewed from notes, color is a dark golden orange with some copper tones, 1/2 inch bubbly white head, some lacing, aroma has caramel, pine, toasted malts, bread, biscuit, grassy accents, and mild citrus in the background, starts off rather yeasty and fades into malt, toasted malts in the middle are rather chewy and transition well into the mellow and somewhat citrusy hop flavor, finish has lemons dominating with bitterness lingering behind, dry, slightly chewy, and citrusy mouthfeel, thin bodied, too much carbonation, taste does not last long and can be weak at times, easy drinking for an ESB, went well with our chinese food appetizer, smooth and light overall, probably would not drink again, still worth trying

Pours gold with a compact white head. Few lacings. Aroma is bready with some floral hops. Taste is bread, yeast, lemon, and bitter earthy hops. The overall effect was a sour lemon hoppy beer. Not much like any ESB I've had before. I did finish the glass but was tempted to have and IRA or Hop Lava about half way through. Maybe this was an old batch or I was served the wrong beer.

Imperial pint at the taproom, Alpenbrew is a chill hazed orangish gold with a creamy white head that leaves light, scattered lace.

Smell is fruity citrus, tangerines.

Taste is also very fruity, with some apricot as well as the citrus, English esters with a little bready malt.

Mouthfeel is exceptionally creamy, medium bodied with a dry finish.

Drinkability is pretty good if you dig fruity English pales, which I do. Would have a like a richer malt backbone for an ESB, although it's well made.

Grabbed a pint of this at Clyde Common.

A: Love the color - a completely hazy, rose/amber, like a melted caramel. Small, compact head of near white cream and a few small suds; excellent lace hugs the glass from top to bottom in sticky curtains. Too cloudy too find any carbonation.

S: Light cracker-dry malt and a mild pine/citrus pith scent.

T: Caramel and honey atop a rich and tangy biting hoppiness. Spices and citrus zest (lemon and grapefruit) and a bold twist of evergreen. Mild fruit, like tart apples. Sharper bitterness in the finish.

M: Remarkably bold mouthfeel for such a modest beer. Creamy, coating. I hardly can believe this is 'just' a 5% beer...

D: Quite tasty. Tangy flavors and thicker mouthfeel don't make Alpenbrew terribly drinkable for me, but that's just my own preference. Regardless, a real surprise and definitely a beer I'd recommend.

Nice creamy finger thick head.
Hazy golden amber. Quite a bit of carbonation in the midst of the haze.

Real pine aroma and very floral. Real fresh and lively.

Wow, real nice! Nice cracker/bread flavor behind a strong pine hop presence. Really left with a wonderful lingering bread flavor. This is mixed with a subtle pine hop flavor that lingers.

Real nice mouth feel. Medium bodied but rather refreshing and light on the tongue.

Nicely Drinkable
