A bit of a haze, inside a light straw color. Very mild, slightly tart, spiced, light malt aroma. Taste is light, a bit tart and effervescent, lightly spiced, very light malt taste.

Poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a decent looking ruddy yellow color with a small off white foamy head swiftly sliding off. Not much lace.
The aroma had some biscuity malts, somewhat lager-like. Watered down white peppery crackling spice. Some floral hop bits.
The flavor moderately leaned into the sweetness performing a sly blend, it's there though extremely faint. Slight grassy edge rolling in. Barely an aftertaste of anything, maybe some faint biscuit and white pepper.
The mouthfeel was light bodied and extremely sessionable. I must say it practically drinks like water. ABV seemed as projected. Not much of any finish, maybe some biscuits and floral bitterness.
Overall, I realize it can be hard to pack a ton of flavor inside a 3.8 ABV-ed beer but hey what is there doesn't exactly perform as a well done Belgian pale ale to me.

My first from Mayflower. For a 10 year old brewery, they seemed to have grown well. They distribute to almost all of New England states and specialize in American interpretations of the English tradition. (An increasingly crowded market.)
This Summer Session is one of Mayflower's three BA listed ventures into Belgian territory. And as a typical American crafters' shortcoming, Summer Session does not get the "Belgian" yeast to work like a Belgian.
Summer Session Looks more like a golden lager than an ale. It Smells mostly malty with very little yeasty funk. Really Tastes the same way except that some hops give it a lingering finish. At only 3.8%, this Feels thin. But this is OK if a beer's job is to quench thirst. Summer Session does its job OK.

Pours hazy foggy straw yellow with a rapidly dissipating frothy white foam head. Smells like banana, sweet apple, ripe pear, lychee, apricot, melon, clove, lemon, lime, white grapefruit, orange citrus peel, crackery bready spicy rye grain, musty hay, barnyard funk, peppercorns, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like crackery bready spicy rye cereal grain, banana, clove, apple, pear, lychee, apricot, melon, lemon, lime, white grapefruit, orange citrus peel, musty hay, some barnyard funk, peppercorns, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels dry, medium-light bodied, creamy and smooth with moderate carbonation. Overall a nice summer Belgian session ale.

Had on tap...
This is a brewery I want to love but so far haven't been able to. This one is overly sticky sweet with too much chew and no hop snap at all. Just not for me.
