My favorite brown ale! Smooth and creamy. With a hint of smoke and molasses, making it much more bodied and interesting than most browns!

16-oz. can PKG 8/22/18 needed a strong pour into a 20-oz. mug to get a 1/2 finger sized tan head which quickly shrinks to a ring with minimal spotty lacing.
Rosewood dark brown and semi opaque, brightens a little in front of light.
Instant coffee dominates the smell with roasted and sweet malts, faint hops.
Taste is better, roasted bitter malt blends with coffee at first with sweet caramel malt taking over the middle. The end of the taste is both semi-sweet and mildly bitter, hops and a return of bitter malt linger.
Medium-rich malty body is bolstered by the hidden carbonation, this pushes the rich maltiness throughout the drink,. Finishes semi-dry.
At first it seemed like the co2 level was a little low, then the instant coffee smell put me off a bit-then I tasted it. The battle between bitter and semi-sweet was resolved by balance.
The feel was great, evenly rich. I enjoyed this beer the more I drank it. I think I'll have one more.

Canned 8/22/18
Pours a mild fizzy bubbly smaller head that fades at a med pace, a touch of lacing, dark mahogany brown color

Nose toasted biscuity brown malts, some caramel toffee sweet aromas, toasted brown sweet malts mostly and touch candy like,

Taste brings plenty more dark brown malts, a touch roasty, some chocolate, plenty of caramel toffee sweet brown malts, toasty notes, a bit creamy as well I think oats maybe, some roasted coffee on the back end, touch of bitterness, finishesa bit drier but mild sticky sweet, more bitterness and a little more roast and coffee kicking in.

Mouth is med bod, fair creamy, decent carb

Overall pretty solid brown ale, a fairly boring style mostly, I would have liked a bit more hop bitterness otherwise pretty solid

Canned on 8/22/18

Pours a deep brown, verging toward black, with a dark maroon hue; the half-finger of off-white, foamy head has average retention but leaves a decent amount of lacing as well as a soft ring around the edges.

Aroma begins with a soft burst of lightly roasted malts and a hint of baker’s chocolate bitterness; letting it develop, the malts stay silky smooth while welcoming oaky tones and a touch of sweeter milk chocolate.

Taste brings a hearty profile of roasted malts that delve into further notes of semi-sweet dark chocolate, spent coffee beans, and hints of plum essence; nice roasty char and earthy sweetness.

Mouthfeel is light-bodied and maintains an incredibly consistent carbonation throughout, making it effortless to put back; can feel thin at times, but I’m liking this quality, as it pronounces the crisper aspects of the malt profile to a pricklier, almost ‘brighter’ effect.

Upper-tier in terms of drinkability; never too hearty or too thin, but always maintaining the type of balanced body and flavor I can return to.

Poured a clear brown with ruby tinge. Small tan head with okay lacing. Some earthy -like malt smell / flavor with a thin mouthfeel.

Deep brown where barely makes it through the center of the glass. Appears to be clear. Small bar poured head leaves an array of spots for lace.

Powdered cocoa aroma. Mild chalkiness. Light cream.

The body fits the style while the carbonation is a bit higher--lots of spritz on the tongue. Dry darker chocolate flavors make this a borderline Porter. There's also a higher hop presence than most Browns. Long dark cocoa aftertaste.

This was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown color. Slowly dissipating finger’s worth of white foamy head. Moderate speckled lace. The aroma takes milk chocolate to surround some sly nuttiness, subtle toffee, then some caramel malts super low. The flavor brings in those aromas sweetly with a subtle roast. Light coffee bean bitterness. Nice wet roasty and sweet milk chocolate aftertaste. Smooth chocolate finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable feel about it. Overall, wow, Mayflower, look at you, making a spectacular Brown ale dosed nicely with a ton of chocolate in it. Almost porter like, but real good. Definitely have this again.
