This Baltic Porter is robust and full bodied yet smooth and enjoyable due to the use of lager yeast and a long conditioning time. The 8% beer pours a deep, Rich Mahogany with a big frothy head. It has a slightly sweet aroma and taste. Flavor notes include: chocolate, fine tobacco, roasted peanuts, dark fruit, toasty and malt forward, and toffee.

Deep rich brown color with nice tall fantastic head. Creamy looking.
No noticeable smell.
Very smooth, easy to drink, if somewhat bland. No hint of the ABV.
Nice pleasant beer.

16oz can served in a tulip. Dated 01/13/22. Received from @wunderllama in shenanigans somewhere on the border between NBS BIF #14 and 15.

Pours a dark oily-leather color (see what I did there?) with a small ring of head and a small dusting of very fine head. There is a tiny bit of active carbonation if I look closely with sufficient lighting. Smell is roasty coffee and chocolate. Moderate sweetness and a little yeast.

Taste is nice. A little anise, dark roasted coffee, unsweetened chocolate bitterness, with a mild sweetness that I can't decide how to describe. Somewhat date/raisiny? Slightly maple syrupy? Sweetened coffee?

Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium. Overall, this is very nice.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours dark brown - almost black. Good amount of off-white head. The nose is full of roasted malts. Dark German bread, campfire, burnt toffee, and a bit of brown sugar. Really nice.

The taste is fantastic. Sweet and full of toffee and chocolate. Dark chocolate. Cherries, raisins, burnt wood, vanilla, brown sugar, tar, tobacco, leather, black licorice, dark bread, and some dark roast coffee beans. Fantastic. The aftertaste is mostly burnt toffee and roasted malts.

Mouthfeel is pretty creamy, but I'll go with medium body. Overall, this is a wonderful Baltic porter.

Dark mahogany in color, tan and robust foam that eventually lays out flat with a solid outer rim intact.

Aromatics: Dark chocolate, more like a tootsie roll I suppose. Dark fruits, Blueberry jam and blackberry. Old leather and English cream. Tangy heat.

Feels: rather crisp and thin for the style, perhaps due to the Lager yeast but it mellows and finishes really soft and smooth.

Flavor: speaking of the Lager yeast addition...it brings out a sour, crisp, tangy flavor that is noticeable, even among the malt-heavy flavors: Chocolate tobacco, spicy leather, tangy Dark fruits, dry, leafy earth tones with black pepper. Complex, yet easy, due to its crisp, cold conditioned nature.

Overall: I was just thinking the other day, how much I miss Baltic Porters. Then here I come across this at my local Food Co-op. It's a fun version with heavy complexity and intriguing manner.

It’s not often that I pick up Mayflower beers when I see them in the store, but it’s Baltic Porter ffs. Who brews these anymore except for Jack’s Abby. I actually just had a new German-inspired one from JA last night, so it’ll be interesting to see how this one compares. Let’s crack it open

Pours an opaque chestnut brown with 2 fingers of tan head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing

The nose on this one is quite understated and doesn’t really differentiate itself from an American Porter. I’m picking up on aromas of roasted malt, milk chocolate, medium roast coffee, dark toast, light earthy hops, and a touch of smoke

It’s definitely more expressive in taste and decently complex. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting charred malt, milk chocolate, acidic coffee, raisin, tobacco, rich toffee, and light molasses. The swallow brings notes of charred malt, peat smoke, chewy figs, cocoa powder, tobacco, and medium roast coffee

A medium full body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a rich and smooth beer. Finishes neutral in terms of dryness and sweetness

This is a super tasty beer. It’s nicely complex, but not necessarily a super slow sipper. Good on Mayflower for brewing classic styles

Pours a giant over aggressive foamy bubbly tan head, 80% head and 20% beer, fair retention, bit of lacing, very dark brown-black color

Nose brings lots of roast as expected but a bit acrid over-roast, little dark chocolate, syrup and candy notes, light fudgey caramel

Taste rich dark malts, toasted grainy lots of lager malts with toasted doughy grain like, some creamy chocolate and fudge, little caramel and some syrupy, overly roasty turning acrid like and a little yeasty spice, burnt coffee, char, more like burnt coffee grounds than coffee itself, fudgey syrupy as well, sticky finish with a little alcohol

Mouth is med to fuller bod, little syrupy, medium carb, little alcoholl warmth

Overall meh, I feel like their quality has gone down hill in the past couple of years, and this is no exception, a fairly meh baltic porter.

Deep ruby brown where light shines through the center of the glass easily. Minor head which fades to minute rim bubbles. A minimum of lace on the glass.

Chalky and chocolatey aroma. Attractive but mild.

Rich flavor but a bit thin in the body. Plenty of semisweet chocolate with absolutely no burnt parts. The carbonation is low which helps the mouthfeel. The aftertaste is brief but is basically more of the same. I also pick up on some alcohol warmth.

Can. Dark dark brown with with lasting tan head and lace. Coffee chocolate earthy aroma with a hint of cinnamon. Rich roasted chocolate sweetness with subdued fruit. Earthy spicy finish. Full body more creamy than slick. I'm not a big fan of the style, but this is FUCKING EXCELLENT.

A: opaque and dark brown, but if held to the light, crystal clear with ruby highlights; 1 finger light brown head that receded to a thin cap; very nice lacing;

S: bittersweet chocolate with deeply roasted grains;

T: follows the nose from start to finish; the bittersweet chocolate is stronger at the end; mild to moderate bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish; hides the ABV well;

O: really smooth for 8%; nicely done;

From the 16 oz. can dated 12/27/18. Sampled on March 2, 2019.

Gorgeous looking deep brown to black pour with ruby red hues underneath a boisterous, lasting tan head.

The aroma is like a Porter with a bit of chocolate, a bit of sweet mats, and a bit of floral. Everything is balanced and nothing overpowers the other.

Medium, chewy body.

More chocolate sweetness in the taste than in the aroma with a bit of smoke. A little soapy, sadly, which brings the experience down.
