A friend who works at the brewery shared his large growler with me a few nights ago. I crushed it. I have been onto this beer for a long time, but it has been a while since I had it, as I am not so into fruit beer like I was in the late 90s. I was pleasantly surprised. It is quite a good beer, fruit or not.
A - This beer looks good for the style. Lightly cloudy, golden-yellow, 1 finger of white foam, and a VW on the label.
S - Nice raspberry aroma, but not perfume-like or artificial; more like raspberry sweet tea, plus bread, minus tea.
T - Very refreshing for hot summer days, (or hot winter nights in FL). The raspberry is ever-present, but not overpowering, the wheat is slightly funky but not sweaty; it is very balanced.
M - It has quickly dissipating carbonation, so the mouthfeel is nicer and more sparkling with the fresh pour then with the dregs.
D - Very drinkable, as evidenced by my repetition of the phrase "Can I get another one of the those?

Didn't have high expectations but was pleasantly surprised upon my first mouthful. A well developed wheat beer without the gimicky furit flavors. The raspberry was faint but noticable and carried well in the brew.
An excellent choice for a warm, end-of-August in FL day beer.
Everytime I'm in the Tampa area, I try to hit this place. Love the atmosphere and the attitude of the place!

I'll begin with a confession - this is not my favorite beer style. That said this is one of the more drinkable versions of the style I've had.
Hazy pink-tinged golden colour. Looks a bit like pink grapefruit juice. No meaningfull head or lace of any kind.
Nose is slightly fruity, but distinctively sour in addition to smelling of old pee (sorry). Rather rough edged.
Typical thin, metallic flavour profile, sour with a bitter finish. Somewhat spritzy.
I'll pass if it comes by again.

ItÂ’s Razz-BEER-y! Get it? BEERy. Ok then. Nose was medicinal like some saisons and geuzes I have had. Unexpected aroma. Orange/tea colored with a lazy quarter thin head. Dainty tasting beer. The raspberry is not out of balance, but it could have a maltier wheat backbone. Some citrus in the finish. Dunedin is much better with their "scottish" inspired offerings.
