The Battle of Newtown took place in the summer of 1779 near what is now Elmira, NY. Sullivan led the expedition against the Iroquois and British Loyalists at this site. It was the only major battle for the entire Expedition and ended with a sound defeat for the Iroquois.

A: The beer is dark brown in color, even when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a quarter finger tan colored head that quickly settled down, leaving delicate lacing on the surface and a collar consisting of medium-sized bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of nutty malts are present in the nose along with faint hints of brown bread.
T: Like the smell, the taste of this beer is very malty and has flavors of nutty malts with notes of brown bread and hints of roasted malts towards the finish. There is also a faint amount of bitterness.
M: It feels just medium-bodied and slightly thin on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is packed with lots of malty flavors but is easy to drink because it is a lot lighter in body than one would expect. I didn't get much in the way of hops, so I would consider this to be more like an English Brown Ale.

Pours a rich mahogany with ruby red highlights and a tan head.
Smells fruity, nutty, earthy, and of malt.
Taste is dark fruit up front - plumb and raisin - giving way to a chocolaty caramel malt middle; then it finishes dry with a bitter herb punch. A very rich and complex beer more on the hoppy side for a brown ale but very tasty and interesting.

A-Black in the glass, two finger off white head, some lacing, clear amber brown around the edges.
S-Coffee, caramel, roasted malt and bread.
T-Starts with a slight coffee (hazelnut?). Then caramel and roasted malt. Tad smokey with mild bitterness.
M-Medium bodied, nicely carbonated.
O-A well made local brown ale. Not out of this park but might fine. One of the required pick ups from people visiting.

Poured from a 22 oz bomber in to a pint glass.
A- Pours a luxurious 2 finger tan head with a dark reddish-brown body. Great lacing.
S- The smell is pretty sweet, with mostly brown sugar coming through with some nuts and caramel.
T- Mostly malty, but a reasonable amount of bitterness pokes its way through to balance things.
M- Medium-bodied with just the right amount of carbonation. I could drink multiples of this because of its mouthfeel alone.
O- Not spectacular, but certainly a solid brown ale. Horseheads keeps it consistent, and they have yet to disappoint me with any brew, including this one.
