Drei-Heller-Bier aus Augsburg. The little brewpub in the heart of the historical downtown area of Augsburg(45 min. by train outside of München) serves up good Bier at a great price. I was fortunate enough to coincidentally stop by during their Happy Hour. Between 4-6pm .3 Liter Biers are 1!!! This includes their year round Doppelbock! Make sure to try the Treberbrot(spentgrain bread). They will put a basket on the table for you. Since I was in the right place at the right time. I started off with the Helles know asDrei-Heller-Bier
..
Typical of brewpubs(havent found one that filters yet!) in Germany, this Bier is poured up unfiltered. It is golden with a slight brownish hue. The head is is thick and creamy. The nose boasts a very fresh malt/grain aroma back up by crisp herbal hops. The aroma is also slightly sweet. Yeast comes through as if the Bier was recently finished in the fermenters, very fresh and crisp. The Bier flows with a sweet up front taste with more mouth feel than one would expect. The bitterness is subdued and the malt is the front runner here. The matly flavor turns slightly grainy before the hops come through. Due to be unfiltered the Bier has a very fresh bready taste. Not a bad Bier at all. And I could drink a few.
Zum Wohl!!!
