Bottled 6/3/15. Best Before 6/3/16.
Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, honey, citrus zest, earth, and skunk aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, earth, and skunk flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is solid despite the skunk like qualities in both the smell and taste.
Serving type: bottle.

Pour is hazed golden yellow with a tight white head. Nose has a light grain, moderate grassy hop, some dusty brett, notes of apricot. Flavor follows suit, a touch less grain, a hint sweeter, light grassy notes, decent bit of fruity flavors. Soft and delicate, gentle carb, slightly bitter finish.

an incredible belgian pale with perle hops here, from one of the kings of the style as far as i am concerned, and while this most definitely isnt fresh, something about the yeast in here makes it hold up so much better than any american pales, and i really dug this, old as it is now. hazy but without specks of sediment in here, golden and muted looking, with a full inch of lasting thick white head. aroma has just a light funk to it, not bretty or anything, but not just straight belgian either, there is a saison sort of element to it, lightly winey, pretty and delicate, needed i think, and obviously the reason this beer is still awesome at this point. the hops have a grassy nose, dried and earthy, light vegetal spice, very much european to me, bitter too. the flavor has great complexity, a dry, crackery, earthy grain base, has to be more than just pale barley, its fluffy feeling, gritty, and substantial. the yeast flavor is awesome, a little funkiness here, saison and more conventional belgian yeast notes too, the best feature of this beer. its bitter and dried grassy to finish, light lime and hay notes to it, just really balanced, drinkable, and good. it has amazing carbonation too. i wish these beers got the respect they deserve, but they just rot on warm shelves around the country, its a shame, because they make some incredible beers. i adored this.
