Pours a somewhat hazy golden color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention and lacing are both very good. Aroma of cereal grains and strawberries. Big time strawberry taste with more graininess at the end. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. It is a little on the sweet side with the strawberry taste being more artificial than anything else.

I rarely ever write reviews but felt I had to for this one. Very artificial tasting, overly sweet and then just nasty. If you took tonic water and put the cheapest strawberry artificial flavor in it possible. So gross it's really hard to get it down.

Can't believe I bought this, had to warn others, do not buy. It's one of the worst, possibly the worst beer I've ever had.

Poured into a pint glass. Pours a pale straw color with a thin white head that doesn't leave any lacing. Aroma is artificial strawberry and biscuit. Taste is biscuit malt, artificial strawberry, and vanilla whip cream with no trace of hops. Light-medium body and medium carbonation.
They declared it was strawberry short cake, and it sure tasted like the store bought pound cake, strawberry juice, and whipped cream of childhood. They went all in with artificial flavoring and the gamble worked, because all the fake-ness blended together well into something recognizable. It doesn't work for everybody, but I enjoyed it.

12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 2/17/2018. Pours lightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with amazing retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of strawberries, vanilla, cream, wheat, shortbread, cake batter, and light herbal. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of strawberries, vanilla, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of strawberries, vanilla, cream, wheat, shortbread, cake batter, and light herbal. Very mild herbal bitterness and fruit tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of strawberries, vanilla, cream, wheat, shortbread, cake batter, and light herbal on the finish for a while. Nice robustness and balance of strawberries, vanilla, and pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/tartness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitter/tartness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a nice fruited wheat ale. All around nice robustness and balance of strawberries, vanilla, and pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly tart/bitter finish. A little underwhelming, but it tastes exactly like the dessert as promised. Great balance of strawberries, vanilla, and cake/shortbread flavors; touch of hops to balance the sweetness. A nicely enjoyable, unique, and well made offering.

Poured into a Tallgrass tumbler.

Look: A muted hazy burnt orange body under a tan foamy cap that recedes to an uneven film with spots of watery lacing.

Aroma: Sweet and tart strawberry purée followed by a sweet cream note, finishing with a malty metallicism not unlike a malt liquor.

Taste: A confusing mesh of sweet cream, strawberry tart, a malt base, and citrus rind bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Light, and kind of harsh on the palate.

Overall: I thought I might like this until about the third sip. The beer has very strange foul tastes in it that do not allow the flavors to mesh.

Creamy with more of an artificial strawberry taste, just enough grain.

Taste rating in words: Strawberry ice cream with a syrup on it that might be expired.

Strawberry Shortcake pours a bronze color, with a nice long lasting head. Cream and shortbread makeup the aroma, with hints of strawberries. Flavor is initially sweet, cream flavors, lots of strawberry, but finishes bitter and slightly sour. Good body and feel. Overall, good beer, with a bad bad aftertaste.

Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, head of foam. It smelled of strawberry. It really tasted like strawberry shortcake. So they nailed the name.

Look - your average looking straw colored blonde beer, small ephemeral head.

Smell - maybe a little bit of strawberry mostly sweet and very crackery. Kind of like an old bucket full of Halloween candy and saltines.

Taste - honestly like diet sprite with a tiny bit of that strawberry soda that's far too sweet mixed in. There is an obvious malt flavor, that of your average blonde, but it's ruined by the flavor. It doesn't taste good.

Feel - Like tonic water. So dry, but in a weird way that reminds one of the inside of an airplane. If you've had any of the other better tallgrass fruit beers you know what I mean.

Overall - I hate reviewing this beer, because some of Tallgrass Brewery's beers are really good (key lime pie). This is not one of them. In short skip this one
