First had: on tap at their brewpub
The hefeweizen is one of the neatest looking beers, in my opinion, and though this isn't what I'd call a prime example of the style, I still did like the look of it. Fuzzy, hazy body, light, pale, mineral beige color with a small cap of white bubbles for a head. Light aroma, wheat, dry grains, hints of banana esters and spice. Metallic twinge in the taste, wheat, earth, notes of yeast and banana that should be more in the forefront for the style, but really aren't here. Light mouthfeel, somewhat acrid, fairly drinkable, but simply sub-par overall.

Draft at the brewpub. Yellow though marketed as unfiltered. No head. A story in bannana. Not as a mastery of yeast, rather as a chick fruit drink with bannana syrup from a can thrown in. That's how it tasted. Not so drinkable like that, but I can see patrons liking it so.Sticky aroma and mouthfeel.

on tap poured into a pint glass, not served with any fruit wedges (this is the way it should be).
a: pale yellow/amber color, hazy, small silkey head with fair retention
s: slight fruit (banana), yeast and wheat
t: light banana, slight spice, light grassy hop
m&d: thin watery mouth, smooth. Very drinkable in the summer heat.
Cheers!!!

(From notes)
A - Light yellowy-green color; half-finger of fizzy white head
S - Lightly yeasty; touch sour and acidic; pretty mild
T - Lightly tart, yeastiness; a little out of the style, but still some notes of banana and clove
M - Light and very prickly carbonation
D - Not bad drinking; light and refreshing enough if not a little bland
Overall, not the best example of the style, but not terrible. Worth a look if at the brewpub.

This was the last of the beers that I enjoyed on a recent trip to the otter. Wheat beers being my favorite style I thought I'd save the best for last. This one didn't dissapoint. Served a cloudy golden yellow in a pint glass with a slice of lemon (which was quickly disposed) sitting on the rim of the glass. You can smell the complexity in this beer, it almost is like a hybrid beligan whit and hefe mixed. The banana and correander is strong but not overpowering. This is a throughly enjoyable beer and it has enough body that makes it feel as if you are drinking something substantial. I brought a growler of this home with me and I enjoyed it the very next day. What better way to spend Fathers Day??

Served as a cloudy amber colored beer with moderate white puffy head. Good retention.
Smell is the typical mixture of what, yeast, cloves and bananas.
The taste is also typical, with nice notes of bananas and cloves.
Finishes refreshing with nice taste retention
Very easy to drink. A by the book hefeweizen

This beer hit the spot. Once I saw the menu and saw hefe, I knew what I was getting. The other thing I didn't like is that when it came out, they garnished it with a lemon wedge. Once I saw that I took it out right away. I think the waitress saw me doing that, so once my brother ordered one after me, he didn't get a lemon wedge. Looked like a cloudy dark lemon color with a nice amount of carbonation in there. Smell was wheat, some light cloves and bananas in there. Taste was nice and balanced I thought. Almost like a brooklyner weisse, but less clove and more balanced. Aftertaste was mostly banana which was nice and soft on the palate. Perhaps one of therir better beers. I regret not taking home a growler of this stuff.

This was the first brew I am trying on my visit to Gilded Otter after visiting Half time.
The beer comes in a flute glass with a lemon wedge on the rim of the glass. It is cold and looks refreshing.
The beer is a hazy gold pour with only a small white edge layer of head. Hmm. Was hoping for a little more froth.
Aroma is rich and inviting, with lemon citrus notes, banana, some wheat scents and mild cloves all intertwined.
First sip reveals, a mild rolling carbonation that allows the beer to glide down my throat. The body is a little thin but this adds to the crispness I think.
Flavor is nice, big lemon zest hit followed by some yeasty spice hits of clove, and a little grainy wheat twang too. The finish is citrusy and clean creating the urge to to take another sip. Besides the lack of substantial head a good example of the style I think.
