Our boldest dam brew is named for the boldest dam workers. Dangling from ropes 700 feet above the canyon floor, they blasted off the face of the cliff and then pried away loose rock. Our version of this classic style uses loads of 2-row brewers, white wheat and Carapils Malt. Seriously hopped up with German Hallertau, domestic Chinook and Cascade, we throw an additional two pounds of fresh Cascade directly into the fermenter. Are you as tough as a high scaler?

Pint pour served chilled at the brewpub.
Slightly cloudy, deep gold colored body. Thin white head. Leaves behind a scatteredlacing film.
Aroma is faint with toasted malts and citrus hops.
Taste is a mix of slightly sweet and moderately bitter. Flavors of indistinct citrus fruit, pine, and toasted malts. Lingering aftertaste with a diminishing bitterness.
Medium mouthfeel. Slight tongue sting. Very good carbonation.
Fits for style but kind of vague.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a six sample flight. It poured a clear golden with thin white ring head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had fresh ripe fruit notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp semi sweet malt base burst of ripe bitter fruit followed by smooth pine resin hop finish. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

My second favorite beer at the dam brewery to Decadence, but still better than the mass produced over-hyped commercial beers anytime

On tap at the brewery. Nice mellow pale ale, a little on the light side, but some fruity, citrus aromas and flavors. Another great looking beer, perfect head and lacing. Citrus finish.

Hazy translucent gold. Poured right outta the tank so a little haze is expected and welcome. Thin white head melts like snow in the Nevada desert sun.
Doesn't smell like much; a little grassy Cascade and light malt extract. Doesn't taste like much either. Mild, to be generous, grapefruit bitter from Chinook and some grass from Cascade. Malt is doughy and a tad soapy at times.
At 29 IBU this isn't an IPA. Even under pale ale criteria it's still a pretty average beer.

Appearance: slightly hazy orange color with a short 1/2" head that broke apart immediately. No lacing developed.
Smell: some mild hop bitterness and some lemon zest were soft but detectable.
Taste: the malt profile was a bit light here and the hops made this a one man show. Lemon zest, soft grapefruit, and a mellow bite of hop bitterness hits late.
Mouthfeel: lightly crisp throughout. Medium bodied beer. Aftertaste was short but was filled with the hop bitterness.
Drinkability: I grew a bit bored with this as the pint ended. Just not balanced enough for me, but some may enjoy. Worth a try.

A fairly good IPA from Boulder Dam. According to the menu, it uses Oregon Chinook and Cascade hops. Looks pretty hazy, orange, with not much of a head. Nose is all hops, a bit one-noted. Taste is leafy green syrupy hops with a malt presence. A bit of sourness, and a lingering hop finish. Nice. Mouthfeel is foamy, drinkability is good. Not a bad offering.
