Named for the dam workers who packed all the explosives, this beer is flavorful and refreshing, yet not filling. Pilsen and Carapils malt give this brew a light, malty character and straw color. The palate is balanced with three hops – Northern Brewer and Tettnanger from Germany and Styrian Goldings from Slovenia.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a six sample flight. It poured a clear golden with thin white ring head that is leaving some lace. The scent had faint blood orange notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp semi sweet malt base and smooth citrus finish. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

This is overall a very good pilsner with nice character.
Golden, it has a small foamy head, hints if lace.
Aroma is mild honeyed bread with light herbs.
Taste is nice balance of honeyed bread, zesty herbs, with light sweetness and mild balancing bitterness. It has a good, lively feel yet solid and full, not at all watery.

On tap at brewery. Another nice looking beer, but lacking the crisp hop pilsener character. Tends to be watery, bland. Not much flavor here. Closer to a lager

As with all the beers here, it is served unfiltered and directly from the tanks. Hence the zwicklel denotation.
Poured strait from the fermenter, it arrives a totally blurred golden-amber with a patchy eggshell head.
A crisp apple and toasted malt aroma precedes a wallop of dough and must yeast nuances. Hops bring bittering, resinous grasses.
It begins with hay and toasted grain, along with fruity wisps of apples and lemons. The unfiltered aspect is somewhat enigmatic, as it initially seems very "homebrew-y" and messy, full of astringent mustiness and wet sour dough. After a few moment of acclimation, the astringency disappears, and is replaced with hop-driven lemon rinds, and lawn clippings, but still totes a pervasive sense of sourdough.
Thicker than any pils (but on par with most zwickelbiers). It has a skim-milk consistency and sluggish carbonation, but is still fairly drinkable, as a cream-textured quaffer.
This is very difficult to rate. Even with its questionable and possibly amateurish moments, the unfiltered aspect makes this curious. Strange but decent. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy slugging down a couple of these in the beer garden.
