Nice wheaty beer that has a sizable banana taste. Alcohol is very present in the taste. A nice summer beer that tastes better as it warms. Above average, but I have others that I prefer in the style.

Poured from a 750 ml brown bottle into a clear weizen glass. No freshness date. Purchased at Market Street Wineshop (Charlottesville, VA).

A: Dull, dishwater amber with capacious 3-4 finger head that climbs out of the glass and leaves thick bands of lacing.

S: Aroma of lemon tinged caramel iced banana bread. THere is a slight alcohol burn in the nostrils.

T: Flavor is also very lemony and clovey with the profile dominated by banana and light caramel maltiness. The alcohol character is quite strong, a little more than it should be. Little to no bitterness, but a lightly nutty malt finish.

M: This has the expected heavy bodied wheat ale feel but has a bit too much carbonation even after letting is sit out for 40 minutes.

O: Not a bad beer from BMBH but I would much rather prefer Dark Hollow or Mandolin, maybe even Local Species to Weizenbock. A little too boozy with some interesting yeast esters and a lightly nutty malt note in the finish without providing a lot of extra flavor above a maltier hefeweizen.
