BOD 9/17/15. Hazy medium amber pour that is blood orange in strong light. Normal head volume, lacing and retention.
Typical light marzen nose of biscuit malt with a bit of caramel coupled with a whiff of noble hops.
Heavy light body that is smooth and delivers a hint of creaminess. Normal carbonation level with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a fair burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is good. Intensity is nice, complexity poor and the balance is good. It begins with an herbal hop flavor that has a touch of spice. Malts provide the middle with a nice grainy cracker biscuit coupled with a soft caramel undertone. Sweetness is subtle. Bitterness is a hint rather than an effect and is quite light. The finish is a slow fade of herbal hop that takes on a slight medicinal note.

Earthy, some chocolate, caramel and bready malts. Smooth sipping. Moderate sweetness and carbonation. Drinks light for an Oktoberfest beer. Pretty good.

Great Oktoberfest. You get a lot of malt and sweet from initial smell and taste and then it has a very clean finish. It is not dry and it is very smooth. The german malts that are used give it a very earthy taste and feel and the caramel taste and maybe a little bit of citrus do not over take the palate. The beer poured like a dark pale to amber. very good Oktoberfest from a great local brewery. cheers

COAST Oktoberfest
growler into a liter Rastal
A: Pours a slightly hazy dark copper, with a huge slightly off white colored head that has excellent retention before dissipating down. Lots of thick lacing clings to the sides of the glass. 4.25
S: Aroma is very malt, caramel, fairly sweet, floral notes, some noble hop spiciness. Straightforward but a great nose. 4.25
T: Hop spice and floral notes up front, followed by a big malt presence, some bitterness. Really tasty beer, great example of the style. 4.25
M/D: Fuller side of medium body, carbonation is appropriate, drinkability is good. 4
O: Another great offering from COAST, and I love how they have the COAST Rastal’s to go alone with it. 4.25
