Got a growler of this stuff at the Brew Works on a cool and clear spring afternoon in March.
Pours a pale golden color with a modest creamy head that dissipates quickly.
Clean aroma of sweet bread and grassy hops.
Flavor is very nice. Really bready and biscuity, if a tad sweet. The bitterness hits you on the finish, which is full of grassy hops. Malt structure is full of bread, grain and perhaps a bit of corn, though I'd hope this brew is adjunct-free. Mouthfeel is well-carbonated, even for a growler. Smooth, easy drinking.
I wasn't sure of the abv on this guy. You can taste the somewhat elevated alcohol content, and I seem to remember this beer being listed around 7 percent abv. Definitely not a standard pilsner. It's almost like a well-made and unoffensive strong macro lager: American maibock?
