Formerly known as "Pale Lager Beer"

This is our take on the renowned Bohemian-style pale lager that you might find in Bavaria or the Czech Republic. When coming up with the recipe for Pils owner/brewmaster, Rick, brewed 17 batches of this beer to make it perfect. The recipe is based on the traditional and beloved Pilsner Urquell, which is why we have chosen not to filter our beer and why our lagering time is as long as it is--from brewday to when we can or keg Pils it is at least eight weeks. Our Pilsner is a little more golden, rounder, and a little more malt driven than many other versions. The beer possesses strong hop character that is balanced by its rich, round, malty palate. Refreshing and balanced.

From the undated 22oz bottle into a pilsner glass produces a very pretty bright golden body capped by a thin head of foam, lots of bubbles race to the top keeping the beer lively, there is lots of lacing.
Aroma is subdued, very clean cracker/yeast and a slight spicy hop. Smells just like a Pils should.
Taste is crisp cracker with a very pronounced floral bitterness that lingers, there is also a very prickly effervescence that is very satisfying and causes the beer to finish dry.
This is a lovely pilsner, the brewer should be justly proud of achieving this high a quality in such an unforgiving style.
Bravo!

Can into Nucleated Pilsner Glass (Canned

Look: Hazy golden yellow body, pouring a white, creamy 1 finger head which slowly dissipated into a thin cap.
Smell: Biscuity malt, with some caramel in there. Citrusy and bright lemon. Grassy and herbal hops. Medium strength nose
Taste: Biscuity malt, and bright citrusy lemon. Fresh grass clippings. Herbaceous hops gives a light bitterness. Finish has a fleeting whisp of lemon, yeast and grass before a slowly fading mellow malt. Lingering resinous hops note
Feel: Medium-light bodied, moderate carbonation, crisp and dry
Overall: Good pilsner, I would definitely drink again.

16oz tallboy can received through the good offices of vurt and consumed after an hour long post prandial hike starting from the Glenrose trailhead. Canned on February 26, 2026, per the stamp on the bottom of the can.

Poured into a 16oz dimpled mug, this was a slightly hazy golden color, with a somewhat tight, bone-white head. Decent amount of lace.

Fairly low amplitude nose that gives off the aroma of bitter, herbal Saaz hops.

Interestingly, although labeled as a "Bohemian" (i.e. Czech) pilsner, the flavor more resembles (at least to me) a German pils, as it is quite dry and hoppy. Finishes clean and crisp, in that order. Definitely a more dominant flavor than the nose led me to expect.

Body is relatively light, with a crisp mouth feel.

I feel like this is more assertively hopped than what this is labeled as, but it did not detract from my enjoyment of it at all. This was a nice beer for some after dinner chilling with tunes and a book. Thanks, Eric!

Tap. Colour is slightly cloudy gold with a medium depth ecru head. Nose is teeming with doughy notes, jasmine flower, freshly baked pilot bread and honey cream. Palate is full, velvety and frothy and presents loads of lemon curd, kumquat jelly, honeyed crackers and pie crust. The mid palate is moderately dry without being too tight and the finish is long, lightly yeasty and fulfilling.

Bright golden pour topped with a generous, lasting white head. The aroma is inviting, with soft malt sweetness, fresh bread crust, and floral notes. On the palate, it’s clean and malt‑forward, balanced by a pleasant hop bitterness that lends a crisp edge. Refreshing, well‑balanced, and highly drinkable.

On tap at Windsor Brown’s in Anaheim, California.
Dear Lord, this is such a solid Pilsner. Gorgeous straw to gold in color with a fluffy white head, solid retention, light, cloudy lacing.
Aroma has a nice initial pop of sulfur, and then the traditional noble hops with a hint of honey malt.
The malt is slightly bready, maybe a hint of corn. The hops are straight up Noble with a hint of pine, citrus zest and grass. There’s also that old school Bohemian sulfur note that is so unique to style.
Mouthfeel is crisp, great carb levels, and closes out mildly bitter.

CANNED ON 09/12/24. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.

A: Clear honey-gold hue with 1-2 fingers of foamy white head with good retention and decent lacing.

S: Heavy herbal noble hop aroma with bready pils malt notes.

T: Delicious malt-forward lager but with a heavier-than-usual handed dose of noble hops but. It out of bounds for the style at all. Bready pils maltiness with light sulfur in the early palate that gives way mid-palate to herbal, grassy, and slightly spicy noble hop character. Bitterness is moderate and balancing. Finish and aftertaste is slightly sweet pils malt with more waves of spicy noble hop flavors. No diacetyl, off-putting esters, or metallic or other off-flavors. Tastes super fresh.

M: Light-medium body with high but fine carbonation which leaves a creamy texture and dry finish.

O: Heater Allen Pils is not messing around - it hits all the Czech pils pleasure spots and is extremely refreshing and satisfying. Great beer that you need to find and experience!

Lightly hazed and relatively light golden-straw in color. Finger-and-a-half of dense, near-white head. Good retention and spotty lacing.

Some sulfur and distant cornbread in the aroma.

The taste is quite similar with an only-slightly-more-bitter-than-expected finish. Slightly sweet up front, with an even slighter hint of ash on the backend.

Full bodied for the style, while still very quaffable, coupled by a steady light fizz.

Wish I knew about this when I lived in Oregon. Depending on the price point, it might have replaced, or at least supplemented, my go-to Trumer Pils as a fridge staple. Delicious beer.

Canned 11/13/23; drank 1/19/24 @ Roadrunner Lodge.

Cloudy dull orange/yellow appearance.

A rough pour yielded a huge off-white head; decent, frothy lacing remained.

Honeyed wheat & pine notes in the nose.

Creamy, medium mouthfeel.

Corn, pine & rice flavors.

Nice mouthfeel...pretty good flavor.

16oz can. Date stamp on bottom reads 'CANNED ON 10/23/23 HA'.
Mostly clear, pale gold colored body. One finger of off white head. Leaves behind tiny lacing webs.
Aroma of biscuit malts and floral/spicy hops.
Taste is bread and biscuit malts, which turn quite sweet mid-point on. Joined by lemon drop candy. Sharp hop bite towards the end, which lingers into the aftertaste. Caramel and spice.
Medium plus mouth feel. Crisp and clean finish. Good carbonation.
Well integrated flavors and such a good balance among the sweet malt, lemon tart, and spicy hop components. Each sip calls for the next.

Look: Pours almost the same color as the can – bright yellow – and quickly forms a silky white head that settles to a lid, leaving a nice ring of lacing behind
Aroma: I could smell it on the pour. Pilsner malt, spicy hop notes, soda crackers, freshly cut grass, light floral notes, and biscuits
Taste: Pilsner malt, biscuits, and warm bread hit the palate running and quickly evolve and deepen as that is followed by a blast of spicy Saaz that pushes back the malt. Cut grass, light floral and spicy notes all coalesce atop the nice and constantly developing malt as they battle for the spotlight before pilsner malt and the mighty Saaz presence return to close it out
Mouthfeel: Full but light feeling, extremely clean, medium-high carbonation, and crisp and clean on the finish
Overall: This is awesome, simply put. As a huge H.A. fan, I couldn’t believe I’d never reviewed their flagship Pilsner over all these years drinking it so had to, for science, and it quickly re-iterated for me why these folks are my favorite lager brewer in the state. A ridiculously deep and flavorful beer and the depth of both malt and Saaz flavors are highlighted well here, which is perfect given that it’s a straightforward Bohemian Pils. Delicious and highly recommended

poured from a 16oz can into a new glarus dimpled mug. pours straw yellow with over two fingers of fluffy white foam head. lemons and grass predominantly on the nose as well as some earthy hops and lager yeast. taste follows. this is super delicious. very drinkable. the mouthfeel isn’t quite as crisp and carbonated as i expected. feels more like a german helles then a pils but this is still damn tasty. had always heard good things about this brewery and this delivers.
