Picked this up on a recent trip to Trader Joe’s in Mission Valley. Generally don’t think Mission makes many good beers, but I still always try what I can. This one sounded interested to me in an IPA with mandarin oranges and Mandarina Bavaria hops. Kind of new to the MB hops, but what I’ve had has been good. Was looking forward to this one.

Poured an amber semi-clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of off-white frothy-to-rocky head. Lots of fast moving bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent spiderweb foamy lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled orange, tangerine, orange peel, Mandarina Bavaria, orange citrus zest, orange creamscicle, cantaloupe, dank resin late, and vague hints of Amarillo and nectarine. (Smell - 3.75)

Taste followed the nose for the most part, a bit underwhelming overall. Maybe a tad maltier than the nose. Got bitter orange peel, tangerine, Mandarina Bavaria (still new to me), cantaloupe, mango rind, resin and woody pine. Tasted much boozier than 5.0 pct. (Taste - 3.50)

Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.25)

Not a huge fan of this one, which follows my views on Mission Brewery. A good IPA I guess, but nothing I would seek out again. (Overall - 3.50)
