The Cody Brewing Company's latest rotating release (on tap on 12.09.07). Dubbed by the brewer as an 'Imperial Pumpkin Ale'.
Served in a snifter from the growler.
Pours an almost opaque maple in color beneath a thin, creamy, lightly tanned head. Thin and spotted lacing with adequate strength.
Sweet caramel and brown sugar; bold nutmeg and allspice, but not dry. Pear, apple, plum sweetness. Sharp whaffs of alcohol that works well with the notes of sweetness.
Aged fruit with a slick sweetness: plum, apple, orange. Nutmeg and brown sugar that carries into the finish without overwhelming the other flavors. A robust, warming alcohol character joins the spices and lasts with a slight burn down the throat in the aftertaste.
Almost full bodied; creamy that turns rather slick as the alcohol intensity begins to take hold. The filmy quality due to the spices is kept nicely in check.
Another unique creation from Cody Brewing Company; I mean a Pumpkin Ale at 9% abv, this one's intense. Worth a try for the novelty done well, but not the most drinkable brew. Rather than 'Sick' Pumpkin, this would be more appropriately called 'Drunk' Pumpkin.
