my first beer from these guys is a curious hybrid of styles, a sour ipa of sorts thats been well dry hopped with modern varietals, but at a session strength, something i have been getting more and more into of late. i was stoked to encounter this one, and was pleased with its overall uniqueness and execution, although i think it still might be a work in progress in some ways. the beer is hazy and orange, but it doesnt look thick. it doesnt hold a big head from the tap, and whats there settles quickly. the aroma is pleasant, peachy and mango forward, juicy and tropical tropical, and making my mouth water with the bacterial sour element which is quite robust in the aroma. notes of orange and melon and mango from the hops in the taste, maybe some new zealand varietals at work here, it has that unique fruity softness, just delicious each sip. the sourness is less than it smells like it is and pretty clean, just a little funky wild element there with it, but seems more kettle soured than spontaneous or anything. light bitterness at the end to balance a little bit of residual grain sugar, but all in appropriate amounts. a cool mix of styles here, and a very flavorful beer at this modest strength. i am keen to try some more of their stuff, this is innovative and good.

This is a sour IPA, I think brewed using a kettle sour technique. It delivers a quite opaque golden liquid with a good foam. The smell is quite strong: lemons, citric acid, some oranges. The taste is very dry, with a good acidity and a feel of wheat and other cereals. We could feel the hops a bit more (and it would have been a good thing since they've put some wai-iti in this) but we feel the peach taste of the mosaic. Lacks a bit of complexity and depth, but a quite refreshing beer.
