La Sir Wallace est fidèle au style d'origine. Cette bière très gustative vous surprendra pourtant par sa douceur en bouche, mais atention car elle cache très bien sa haute teneur en alcool. C'est pourquoi elle réjouit rapidement le coeur et l'esprit.

Shared can at Mandag i Annen. ABV is 6.9%. Mahogany colour, small head. Both aroma and flavour have a good malt character, but there are also some unwanted hints of lacquer. Too high fermentation temperature? Low bitterness, as expected from the style.

A: Pours a very dark brown/amber color with an off white colored head that has pretty poor retention. Lacing and alcohol legs are pretty decent as expected for the genre/ABV.
S: Quite faint smell. You get light toffee, caramel and vanilla with almonds, maybe peacans and light red fruits.
T: Medium to light in taste intensity. You get toffee, caramel and vanilla as expected but the red fruits (cherries and strong strawberries) are much stronger in the taste than in the taste. The nuts like notes are still there.
M: Too light and has a too lively carbonation for the genre.
O: This is a decent beer for sure. I like it more than the score suggests. It has plenty of "objective flaws" but it still is interesting and I had a good time with it.

Brown in color with red hues under light, with a really thin head. Intense caramel smell, really sweet aromas with some alcohol present in the nose too. In the mouth you also get this caramel flavor, really good almost like a candy. Really smooth and while I smelled some alcohol you don't really feel it in the mouth.

A : Dark Reddish brown with tan head that disappear rapidly no lacing

Bottle: Poured a clear deep amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aromas of candy-like notes are quite sublime with some sweet caramelized malt notes also perceptible. Taste is also dominated by fruit and candy-like ester which are quite powerful with some great notes of caramelized sugar with some toffee notes also perceptible. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I really like the yeast strain that was used for this which generated some nice ester as well as the balanced sweetness level.

Bottle from papat444. Lot 1, June 2012. Served in a taster pint glass.
A - A finger of off-white foam settles to a collar, a few wisps, and a few specks of lace. Dark, ruby-brown body with some transparency to it.
S - Very port-like, with jammy and intensely fruity notes, caramel, a bit of apple, and very, very mild whiskey and oak flavors; two months in the barrel didn't infuse much flavor here.
T - The taste is lacking the complexity found in the aroma. There's more in the way of cereal grains, and light toffee, with a little oak, a surprisingly vinous note, and a doughy finish. If you had made me guess what barrels were used, I probably would have guessed red wine over whiskey.
M - Smooth texture, medium body albeit a tad watery, lower carbonation, with a touch of dryness in the finish. No alcohol, other than a hint of warmth quite late.
D - Odd beer, but not entirely unenjoyable as there's some nice malt depth. Not much whiskey presence, and the flavor isn't very in character with the listed style of Scotch Ale. I'd try a new batch of this if it gets made again, but otherwise I don't think I'd buy this again.
