Sampled a 500ml bottle from a mixed case purchased from the British Beer Club.
A ruby brown ale with a cream head that showed very good retention for a bottled beer, stuck to the glass for the duration of my pint.
The nose dominated by malts and barley along with some fainter hints of burnt berries. So far so good.
The initial taste is very bland, however this is then followed by a smoky aftertaste with bitter hops lingering on the palate for a while.
A medium-heavy bodied beer that looks good, smells good and has a nice aftertaste; however the lack of initial taste really hurt this beer. I would like to taste the cask to see if it differs.

Tasted by a half-pint at the Penderels Oak, a JDW pub in Holborn, London.
A: clear, light ruby in colour with low carbonation; a nice and tight off-white froth lasts well, leaving uneven sheets of lacing behind.
S: pleasantly creamy & mild caramely malts dominate the aroma, paired with a complex yet soothing fruity mix of flowery fragrance, sweet citrus, and ripe berry-fruits. Hops are fresh and lively on the nose, thanks to the fresh condition of the cask, apparently.
T: plenty of apple-ish fruits and dried berries approach upfront, on top of a subdued yet deep and mildly chewy bitter-sweet maltiness powdered herbal bitterness creeps up in turn, lending a profound depth to the predominant amber malts and lively berry-fruits.
M&D: creamy smooth & fresh on the palate, reasonably complex with rich hoppiness; this is a well-structured premium bitter that couldve been a more wonderful drink if added with a bolder hop flavour.

Quite sticky, yet with some smoothness. Something is"perfumy" about it. its a bit toffee-ish, with some a late bitterness, pretty bland and sweet i think, quite boring, and not what i'd call eikther a strong ale or ESB (Cask- Queens Head- Chelmsford)
