I bought a Hub City 6-pack sampler from Woodman's in Janesville, WI for $7.79 in Spring 2011.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow color. Poured extremely foamy for some reason. Scent is mostly of malts and grains giving it an almost sour scent. Has a very dry taste due to the yeast. There must be a decent amount of yeast in the beer because well after pouring I'm still seeing carbonation shooting to the top. Rather crisp and clean tasting but not too flavorful. Certainly drinkable but has room for improvement.

Hazy, straw yellow with a creamy white cap of foam. Green apple and corn grits in the aroma, reminds me of drinking Colt 45 when I was 18. Strange coconut and macro lager flavors here, too sweet and just plain bad. Maybe I got a bad bottle? Judging by the rating on this site I think it's safe to say Hub City Loco Lager just isn't good and should be reformulated. So far I haven't been impressed with Hub City offerings.

Bought as part of a sampler 6 pack

Appearance-light

Smell-a little fruity, very reminiscent of sweet wines

Taste-somewhat unique sweet taste, wine-like aftertastes

Mouth-carbonation is very noticeable

Overall-I probably wouldn't sit down and drink a twelve pack of these but I might buy one again sometime

I had never tried Hub City and decided to pick up a sampler pack. All I have to say is, geez these beers suck. I don't mean to start off a review hating on a beer but this beer was barely drinkable.

A - Golden Yellow color, similar to many domestics. The color was one of the more promising elements of the beer.

S - Smells like soap and stale beer. There is nothing even remotely appealing about the smell.

T - Immediately a sweetness hits your mouth followed by a soapy and bitter taste. Not only does this beer miss all of the classic characteristics of an American Pale Lager, it is just plain disgusting. I could barely choke down the beer as there is something very offsetting about the flavor. Might be one of the worst lagers I have ever had.

M - Thin and lightly carbonated. The mouthfeel in this beer is not too bad, similar to other lagers of its style.

D - Barely drinkable. I ended up giving the second beer to my roommate who will drink anything and he couldn't even finish one.

Overall, I cannot recommend this beer. Something about the taste is very offsetting and with so many better choices out there, buy something else.
