South Street's Rye Pale Ale, brewed with flaked rye and hopped with Amarillo, Columbus, Ahtanum, and Centennial. 62 IBUs, 6% abv.

Appearance: Pours a slightly reddish, very slightly hazy body, full of fine bubbled and reasonably fast carb, and capped by a one-finger, rocky, foamy head of admirable retention. The lacing is foamy, glittery and wet while also sticky, and leaves nice patterns.

Aroma: Faint citrus and grass, along with some light spiciness and a faint kiss of caramel. A little too faint, though what gets through is pleasant.

Taste: A definite rye note - that earthy, grainy presence, not dirty - along with flashes of caramel, dough, bread. It's not too sweet, though, allowing plenty of leafy and grassy hops, and faint citrus to get through.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, medium bodied, and relatively even.

Drinkability: A good brew, one of the better ones South Street has put out lately. An interesting choice for them, too, but even though it's out of character I was impressed by it. Recommended if you're in the area.

Pours a copper gold. Very thin head, making retention difficult. Nice lacing, though.

Nice combination of amarillo, columbus, and centennial hops (plus one more that I can't remember).

Very dry, bready nose.

Thinner than anticipated. Nice rye malt makes for a dry finish that lingers. Very nice.
