a cool blueberry sour ale, perhaps the most ambitious of the beers we had from these guys. its gorgeous in the glass, stained deep purple from the fruit with a short pink head on top and fine clarity. the berries smell and taste natural here, slightly tangy with the lactic sourness, but also sort of jammy an sweet and concentrated, a cool complexion to have both sides of the berries in the same beer. the sourness here is pretty expert, about as sour as an average berliner, and very clean, but not flavorless in its front end bacterial sour profile. lemon rind sharpness and tidy fruity acidity are awesome with the blueberries, and seem to accentuate them nicely. the one element thats a little underdeveloped here for me is the malt, this doesnt have a lot of grain character to it at all, although its light enough to be refreshing, it just doesnt have much flavor or texture to stand up to the fruit or the sourness. blueberry beers dont often taste like natural blueberry to me, but this one does, which is its greatest success. the only sour we had from these guys, a really tasty summery beer!

Tap at the brewpub: Poured a light blueish color ale with a thin head with limited lacing. Aroma of tart notes with light lactic acid notes and subtle blueberry notes. Taste is a mix of tart notes with light lactic acid notes with some blueberry notes without any residuals sugar notes. Body is light with medium carbonation. A lot more tart then I was expecting with blueberry notes not as dominant as I was expecting.
