What a nice 'Fest beer! The aroma is that of malt and is sugar sweet (a good sweet). Taste is a malt explosion. Banana, citrus, spices and who knows all what is in the taste of this beer. Delicious. The finish begs you to take another drink. This (so far) is the best Octoberfest I have ever drank.

I'll be buying this again. Soon.

Huge frothy white head tops a spectacular bottle-conditioned wonder of a murky brown body with tons of yeasties. Funky creamy farm aroma proposes plenty of hay, flowers, dandelions and honeysuckle hallertau flavours. Atypical Oktoberfest to say the least. It may be a bit old though as this is not so tasty as expected and surprisingly far hoppier than anticipated to be. Subdued caramelised apples are marched over by the floral hallertau that sticks on the tongue. Marvellous texture, fluffy, creamy, decadently full bodied. Original and delicate. Keep them coming Clark!

Whole Foods sells these marshmallows that are handmade and of exponential quality as your bagged mega-store variety. There's one of these on top my bier. I dig it.

For some reason, I feel I should pull the reins in on my enthusiasm about this fest beer, then I extract another silk draught and to my pleasure find fields of chicory endive coated in an honey and sour orange vinagrette. The attack is sweet then flat out bitter ivy into flawless all-around vibe.

Make sure it's purchased in the present fest year.

The beer poured deep golden with some chunky sediment that got loose during the pour. The head was just barely present. A small wisp of foam around the edge of the surface is about all the beer could muster.

The aroma was slightly sour with a slight malt presence.

The flavor was bland with no appreciable character. Slight malt flavor and perhaps some wheat, but otherwise boring as could be.

The finish was dry and neutral. The body was medium.

I've enjoyed the other brews from this brewery, but this one just wasn't up to par.

16.9 ounce bottle.

It is a cloudy brown color with little carbonation and head. The aroma is slightly hoppy, but there is no roasted malt in the nose. The body is thin and not malty enough. It is sweet and grainy with no ditinct taste. It finishes with a slight bitterenss. Maybe I did not get a good bottle of this, but it was not enjoyable as an Octoberfest and it was barely enjoyable as a beer in general.

Beer poured a clear golden color, with a generous foamy white head that lingered--just beautiful in a glass.

Nose is dominated by complex fruit and hops notes, not the usual mowed hay and biscuts that are stereotypical of the style. Hops are assertive for a Marzen, and complement the tangy, interesting and somewhat complex additional flavors. Beer has a sweet middle with a little more than a hint of carmel going aloing with interesting citrus and apple notes. with a hop finish. Just enough hops to take charge now and again, but not enough to be out-of-style.

Really enjoyable, quaffable like a Marzen, but with a lot of character and interest.

Dark golden color...no head...very clear...nose is soft...some floral notes...some strained maltiness..not much for hops...low carbonation...medium bodied...almost syrupy...

A unique marzen worth trying...I'd drink a couple of these each fall as a change up if I saw them...not a fantastic beer but decent.

This is a viscous pour if ever I saw one. Shit, I kept waiting for a head to form from the syrup like substance I was pourning. I got a thin film, but that was it. Aroma of toasted malt and grain was fairly weak. No carbonation in the mouth at all. I think something went amiss with this one. Body is full, but quite thick and syrupy and not enjoyable. The taste is no better. Quite bland and uninteresting. Hmmmm. I was really looking forward to this one. I think something is wrong with it. I hope to taste and rate a new one of these from a different source (city and state) in the near future.

This beer is extremely carbonated. The bubbles look like they're going to shoot out of the glass. The head is creamy white and shinny. It kind of looks like that foam insulation Bob Vila uses. The lacing is awesome, it's thick and all over the glass. The smell is interesting, there's a light lemon aroma to it. The beer is light amber in color, with a yellow hue. It's fairly clear except for all the carbonation. The taste is pretty mellow, there's a light maltiness with a slightly bitter aftertaste. There's a tiny amount of spices on the back of the tongue.

Sampled on tap at Redbones.

This "wies'n märzen" poured a hazy, copper color with white foam that settled. The smell was a decent malty aroma. The taste was malty with a hint of caramel, some oakiness, and piney hops in the finish. The mouthfeel was smooth and very dry (oaky). The body was medium with low carbonation feel. This was a very nice festbier, clean and dry (unlike many oktoberfest biers which can get a bit sweet).

The cap seemed to almost fall right off of this bottle with no hiss or pop whatsoever. The bottle opener didn't even bend the cap when removing it. So, I’m a little nervous about this brew, and hoping it’s not a bad/flat bottle.

Almost no head forms upon the pour, even when pouring very aggressively. There’s a slight chill haze and just a touch of bubbly lace. The color is a light copper orange. The aroma is of caramel malt with a slight touch of breadiness and hops. There’s almost no carbonation, and it seems pretty flat. I think my fears have been realized. Carmel malts are noticeable on the palate. Finish is a touch bitter, and the hops add a touch of lemon that lingers on the tongue. The mouthfeel is clean and seems medium but would be much improved by an increase in carbonation. Oddly enough, despite this bottle being sub par, it’s still "okay".

This seems like it could be a great brew. I really wish I had bought a couple of these to compare with this bottle and see if it truly was flawed. Unfortunately, the store that carries it locally is about 70 miles away. I’ll have to wait a little while longer.

Chill-hazed smeary brass under a supple, retreating pale foam.
Toasted aromas with underlying hard toffee, September fields, and Hallertauer spice. Quite literally, Harvest in a bottle.

Begins assertively toasty. A mild fruitness arrises and provides glimpses of crusty caramel-drenched apple crisp. Puffy yeastiness is observed midway, but seems to add more to the mouthfeel than flavorwise. Notes of pears seep in. Resumes fruit-laden toastiness, as the hops creep in and give this a completely organic earthy feel. Dry, but not overly so. Hay fields and weeds.
Spicy and toasty and fruity and crisp and fresh and quenching.
"Well-balanced" fails to do this justice.
"Harmonious"? Too cliched.
How about: "Holy shit!!"?
That's better.

I don't have the vocabulary to describe the mouthfeel. This tempts me to go through all my previous reviews and downgrade them. As none compare. None!
An adjective-defying cushioned fullness that negates its own heft in the udder desire it creates to drink the hell out of this glorious beverage.

This is amazing Autumn nectar.

Wow. I like lagers, but Oktoberfests never really wowed me before this one. Wonderfully balanced and eminently drinkable. Golden in color with a longlasting white head and great lacing. Aroma is fresh, floral, and slightly bready . Taste is perfectly balanced. Geat, medium mouthfeel and hopped perfectly to keep the sweetness in check.

Very tasty! Nice cloudy, dark apricot color when poured, with a big creamy head. That has died down a bit, but I still have a nice layer on top, and lace left through-out the glass.

Aroma is fresh, fruity, and flowery, very pleasant.

Taste is actually more hoppy than I would have expected. Malt base, nice carbonation, and a slightly dry finish.

Not overly-sweet, very refreshing. Would get again. This would go well with a hearty meal, like schnitzel. pat

A hazy, deep amber body rests beneath a short but creamy off-white head. The head retention is fairly good and it leaves some spotty lace throughout the glass. The aroma displays a distinct, softly sweet Munich malt with a swirl of apple-like fruitiness and a touch of bright floral hops. The body is medium and it has a very fine, seemingly natural carbonation that leaves it crisp on the tongue. In the flavor a gently caramelish and mildly toasted Munich malt character is well-infused with a delicately spicy, mildly floral, and gently herbal hop flavor that's solidly supported by a firm bitterness. It finishes dry with a gently lingering note of softly sweet malt. Very well-balanced and quite drinkable. It's both refreshing and fulfilling; with enough character to keep it interesting throughout a few glasses.

Poured into it's own tall, fluted mug. Crystal clear, peach amber color with a high white head, pocked and rocky. Aroma was not the blast of cloying Munich malt typical of most Octo- fest's but was clean, soft and floral with hints of carmalized sugar. Toasted, earthy flavors and unique fresh hop flavors kick right in - again, no overwhelming malt as in many octoberfests but a great blend of biscuity sweet grain and superb, strong hop flavor and bittering. Aftertaste is an equal blend of light honey and grassy hop. This is as close to a German IPA as I've ever tasted. A beautifull beer. Clean and full of flavor.

Mmm...this is a tasty O-Fest! It poured a rich, golden color, with a slight tinge of orange. The head came down to a fine, thin white layer, sticks around a while, and leaves very nice lacing in the glass. The nose exudes lots of toasty, bready malt. Real nice!! The body fell in the medium-range, and the feel on the tongue was quite pleasant and fairly smooth. More toasty, bready malt flavors kick things off, leaving a nice malty sweet flavor on the palate. I detect a subtle hint of hops at the very end. All-in-all, a very well made Maerzen!! Big-time thanks to VENOM for supplying me with this tasty sample!! Prosit!!!

Orange in color the very white head remained a long time. This Oktoberfest is different from the ones I am use to. Not as sweet or with a caramel flavor, the dominant flavor I get is grains. A hint of hops but not strongly hopped. This beer is very drinkable and I found it going down quite easy. I recommend giving it a try while it is available.

Amber orange with a solid just-off-white head.

Aroma is special - a honeylike decoction maltiness and hints of hop spiciness and grain that makes you want to quaff this baby. The flavor does not disappoint at all - a very good balance of decoction malt apple-honey-cherry sweetness, a dryish grain flavor that's not at all a drawback, and a restrained yet definitely there hoppiness. The finish has you reaching for the glass again, but suddenly it's empty - which doesn't stop you from holding it up & letting gravity squeeze out the last few drops.

A fine example of the style, one that may cause me to break out the masskrug & fill it with a couple of these after locating a bigass pretzel.
