Draft at the Oasis, plus a growler at home. Cloudy unfiltered medium brown color. Thin quickly dissipating light tan head. Caramel, oak and bourbon nose. Sweet malty taste with nice mouth feel. The bourbon notes really push through on the back of the palate that carries through into the finish Lingering finish with hints of chocolate and oak as well.
Delay in posting the review, obviously as the Oasis unfortunately shut down the next week.

This beer blew me away.
Tastes of Vanilla, Oak, dark fruits, and to my surprise coconut!
I had never gotten flavors of coconut in a beer before.
It was delicious in this beer. It must be from the bourbon barrel and the wheat combination. I don't know but it was great!
I live in Oklahoma and can't get this beer here. But I crave it often.
Don't miss it.

On-tap at Sac Brewing February 16th 2009.
Pours a deep tan with orange edges and a 1cm thick tan head.
The nose is caramel/brown sugar, vanilla, and bourbon, with hints of citrus. My notes say I picked up permanent marker as well, but I'll have to revisit to confirm.
Very sweet as expected, with more of the caramel and bourbon found in the nose. Hints of dark fruit help close things out with a surprisingly clean and crisp finish.
Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with a medium to high amount of carbonation. Abv is dangerously well-masked. This is 13%?
A quick sipper. Probably the best beer I've had from Sac Brewing.

I'm a big fan of anything barley-wine and sipping on the Old Pappy was a fantastic beer experience. Bold, robust, sweet, hoppy, this ale comes in a little over 12% with lots of the oak from the barrels (some might say too much, but for the intensity of the beer overall, I'd argue it was just right). Didn't catch whether the barrels were Buffalo Trace's "Van Winkle" or the more ubiquitous "Old Pappy," but it doesn't much matter.
The complexity of this huge beer is matched by it's sheer drinkability. With it's rather cloying mouthfeel (what you'd expect from the style), the lingering finish delivers several layers of malt sweetness (plum, molasses, vanilla, fig) with underlying hops that dissipate cleanly.
An extreme-beer delight; well balanced, deceptively easy to drink, a perfect night-cap sipper.

On tap at Sac Brew. Barrel aged in Old Pappy bourbon barrels.
A - Red-golden pour with a 2 fingered head. Dissipates slow with some nice tiny bubbles. Maybe from champagne yeast?
S - Bourbon, molasses, brown sugar, and no alcohol!
T - Brown sugar, molasses, bourbon and light alcohol.
M - Full mouthfeel and very filling. Nice to see the bourbon doesn't overtake this monster.
D - Tasty, real good. Wanted a growler, but won't happen.
