A 500ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2018. Purchased recently from Morrisons as part of their beer festival. The label describes it as a golden beer brewed with 6 of New Zealand's finest hop varieties: Nelson Sauvin, Southern Cross, Pacific Jade, Waimea, Pacific Gem and Rakau.
A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A crystal-clear golden hue with plentiful carbonation. Yields a large head of fluffy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before settling as a patchy surface layer. Some lacing.
S: Aroma of intense fruity hops with hints of lemon, citrus, gooseberry, subtle stone fruit, faint melon, ale yeast, pale malt and a touch of grain. Dry and balanced - fantastic!
T: Tastes of amazingly fruity hops with notes of lemon, citrus zest, gooseberry, herbs, mild stone fruit, faint melon, pale malt, a hint of grain and ale yeast. Pretty dry, followed by a robust hoppy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with lively carbonation and decent body. Perhaps a tad thin. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, citrus, herbs, ale yeast and light malt.
O: Excellent - a hoppy modern take on a pale ale. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are stuffed to bursting with aromatic hops. Decent body but just a shade too watery. Goes down like a dream; do Oakham know how to make a bad beer? Well worth sampling.
