Gravity halfpint at the London Drinker festival. According to Oakham's website, this is a new seasonal release for 2012, and will available from January through March henceforth.
A: Brilliantly clear medium amber body under a majestic, conical head of dense (for gravity) offwhite foam. Great retention, great lace. Perfect pour.
S: Nutty, toasty malt underneath some brightly floral, lightly fruity hops. Simple, balanced, elegant, and amazing. This is exactly what I want a bitter to smell like.
T: Follows the exquisite nose exquisitely. Lightly sweet, complexly nutty malt dominates, and is offset on the finish by some delicately floral hops that lend both flavor and solid, clean bitterness. Dry, chalky finish. The chalkiness I could do without, but otherwise it's amazing.
M: Light, smooth, well-carbonated. Excellent.
O: What a great beer! There's nothing extreme or unique about it, it's just a flat-out terrific example of the style. I could drink this beer all day and not get tired of it. Yet another winner from Oakham!
Cheers!
