i didnt know there was a strawberry version until today, and this is pretty good. not all of these have been, but this really is. to me it kind of tastes like strawberry candy or jam, like high quality and strawberry forward, its not cheap or anything, but it doesnt really taste like actual strawberries either, and i dont mind really, the key to that is this being on the dry side, its only sweet for a flash in the middle and then the sourness cleans the palate at the end of each sip, a necessary evolution and i dig it. the beer has a light pink tone to it, a little haziness, and a fizzy rise from the can but not real head retention. the nose is cool, berry candy but specifically strawberry, which is weird because its not like real berries, identifiable but once removed, downright yummy in the flavor. i think i read somewhere this has cayenne in it, but thats not really a factor in my experience, if its there at all its pretty subtle, and thats for the best here, keep it simple, the basic nature of theirs is what keeps them drinkable. the lactic souring is moderate, relatively clean, and there is an almost crispness to this which is cool for something fruited like this. good carbonated too even though it doesnt look like it. neat beer, this fruit makes sense with this base beer so its a nice summer drink overall, cant complain.

Mini-growler fill from the Boise pub tonight... Poured into my new Teku... Beautiful pinkish orange with little head retention or lacing.. Bright REAL strawberry in the nose and on the palate.. lemon lactic notes freshen up the fruitiness.. Like an adult strawberry lemonade.. Strawberry beers are tough to get right and still pack enough fruit in... This one is done well... Would LOVE to see it in bottles at some point.
