Stepping into the world of Six Feet Ten, I carefully poured the brew into a Belcher glass. The result was a sight to behold-a stunning, creamy two-fingered light tan head with average retention. This head, like a fleeting dream, gradually dissipated, leaving no trace on the glass. The beer's dark amber with mahogany hues, a solid 14 on the color charts, was a sight of beauty. It was clear, with carbonation bubbles adding a touch of liveliness. The appearance of this style was not just above average, it was a unique blend of elegance and charm.
The beer's initial aromas are a harmonious blend of nutty, light, toasted malts, hints of caramel, and toasted bread crust. There is also a soft floral note with some minerals and some earthiness. The nose is not just clean; it's a perfectly balanced symphony of scents, promising a delightful tasting experience.
The journey of flavors begins with a delightful nuttiness, followed by the comforting taste of toasted bread crust. Floral esters and minerals add a touch of complexity, while caramel, earthiness, resin, and a hint of herbal notes complete the symphony of flavors. The hop profile, bold yet not overpowering, allows the malt profile to shine, creating a harmonious balance that is a testament to the brewer's skill.
The mouthfeel is astringent and finishes somewhat dry. The body is medium-light, and the carbonation is low.
I am surprised by this beer; this ESB perfectly meets all the style guidelines. The hops are firm, but the malt shines, making this a refreshing ESB. I am seriously enjoying this beer and am glad I had the chance to drink it. I wish I had a few in the fridge to sip on this summer.
