Thanks to woodychandler for this Kvass. Poured from a brown plastic 22 oz. bottle. Has a cola like color with no head whatsoever. Smell is of cranberries. Taste is strong with cranberries up front, some sweetness, dark rye and molasses are apparent at the finish. Feels slightly syrupy in the mouth and overall is a decent brew.

My version of the Kvass Kwest kontinues, Kamarades! It is Easter Sunday and having just had lamb dinner with my uncle, we are sampling some more Kvass.
This version actually had some fizz to it, very much like soda pop, and quickly evaporated. Nose had a definite cranberry tartness to it. Color was a mahogany brown with NE-quality clarity. Mouthfeel was slightly watery with a light fizz. It tasted much better than some iterations that I have tasted of late. It had kind of a birch beer earthy sweetness initially, but followed by a mild tartness of the cranberry. A couple of people postulated this week about a good beer for Easter and I would put this on the list. Plus, its low (non-existent (?)) ABV would make it suitable for everyone at the table. My faith in Kvass has been restored!

As might be expected, Monastyrskiy Cranberry Kvas adds a soft note of tart sweet fruitiness to its bready/molasses sugariness.
The dark mahogany color is not much different from the standard version at all. It's slightly (very slightly) lighter (around 29 SRM vs. 30); and it seems to have a bit more of a reddish cast to it, but that might just be a suggestion of the mind, and an actual consequence of being just a bit lighter in color.
The cranberry is obvious in the nose, wrapped in bready sugar, and it's almost like a sceted candle, or some kind of fruit cake.
The slight tartness of the cranberry helps to cut through the sugar, and it's more refreshing than the standard kvas. It lingers with a bit of bready sugar, but it's not cloying at all. Following that you're left with a residue in the mouth not unlike that of some type of diet cola.
In the mouth it's light-medium in body with a very moderate carbonation that's just enough to help keep it refreshing. Sampled side-by-side, it's either the same as the standard kvas, or just slightly higher (which could also be an aspect of bottling, it's that close).
Overall, it's well made and fairly drinkable.
