Birrificio Hibu "Gotha"
8€/? glass on tap @ 404 NAME NOT FOUND_ , ROMA, IT on 29 June 2018
Notes: Cloudy orange-gold beneath a full head of bright white foam. Very good head retention and lacing. The aroma is fruity, yeasty, and lightly spicy and phenolic. The flavor delivers a rich, sweet, grainy malt (seems a bit wheaty) with yeasty fruitiness (berries, apple, cherry) and a light spiciness (woody like coriander seed). A very firm bitterness anchors it. Some alcohol appears in the dry finish as a dollop of sweet malt fades and its spiciness rises. Medium bodied and gently effervescent. Excellent! It's complex yet accessible, nicely balanced, and refreshing.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a medium orange amber with a thin white head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of candi malt, light stone fruit, dried apple and a hint of coriander. Flavor is candi and mild biscuit malt, Belgian yeast, light stone fruit, apple and coriander; flavor thins out into a spicy, thinly fruity finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Has decent Belgian yeast and malt character and typical spicing, but a bit thin in flavor. This bottle is about six months old and may have faded a bit. A satisfactory, but light weight tripel.

As a compromise, I won't be able to review this beer.
But, Gotha is more proof that the Italians are getting as serious about beer as they are funny.
