Some of us deliberately choose the burnt slice of pumpkin pie. Perhaps there's something about the blackness of carbonized sugars that speaks to us in a way that others will never understand.

From a can. Pours a dark cola black with a thin ring of tan foam. Smells of pie spices and malt. The flavor is pie spice and caramel malts. Medium bodied.

12oz can poured into Teku glass. 01/30/24 printed on bottom of can. So this is still fresh for 5 more months.
Appearance - Deep black body with only a faint reddish glow when backlit. Small tan head with decent retention, great lacing and stick. Medium fine bubbling. Licorice? 4.75
Smell - Licorice? Dark fruit? 3
Taste - Coffee, soy sauce. Various unidentifiable spices. If it's supposed to be pumpkin spice, i'm not tasting that. It's all spice and no pumpkin. 3
Mouthfeel - A bit spicy. Medium to medium-heavy bodied. Mostly clean finish other than the residual spice. 4
Overall - Certainly not a good beer on its own, but I suppose it's more about creating festive feelings of Dia De Los Muerto, Halloween and Autumn, than it is about trying to make an actually good beer. And for what it's trying to accomplish, I think it does it fairly well. 4

Had this beer from draft poured into a shaker pint. Rich dark brown color with nice beige head and great curtain lacing. Smell is a bit subdued, a bit of cinnamon. The taste is pretty good with some warm spice, a bit of pumpkin, chocolate and gingerbread. The feel is nice and silky. Overall, a nice seasonal beer and my first for me this fall.

Black in color. Big fluffy tan head with good retention. Some lace.
Aroma of chocolate, roasted pumpkin, spice.
Chocolate, roasted pumpkin taste. Cinnamon and nutmeg.
Medium-bodied. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did.
