Six pack of cans picked up at Haggens in Woodinville, Washington.
No dating. Poured in to a pint glass.

Look- Pretty hazy light orange juice color, modest off-white head that recedes fairly quickly to a ring of foam, a fair amount of lacing. Light carbonation streaming as it sits.

Smell- Tropical fruit (pineapple and mango), danky melon, citrus (orange/tangerine, grapefruit and lemon), peach/nectarine, bready malt, light pine and herbal notes.

Taste- Follows the nose well, fairly sweet tropical and citrus fruits, a bit of the melon and peach, light pine and pepper with a decent malt backbone.

Feel- Medium bodied, crisp with a lingering light bitter finish, pretty nicely balanced. Moderate carbonation on the tongue.

O- A decent attempt at a NE haze bomb but it's not. There are better attempts available in the Seattle area, worth trying if you see it though.

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. No packaging date on the can.

Appearance: murky yellow-gold hue with a thin layer of frothy white foam atop. It definitely fills the hazy bill, although the head is not terribly dramatic.

Smell: tropical fruit aromas up front, followed by a little bit of dank pineyness. There's also a little bit of maltiness peeking through; I quite like it.

Taste: fruity and floral hop flavors with a slightly bready malt base. The hop flavors aren't quite as pronounced as they are in the aroma, but the subtle fruitiness continues to work. It's rather good.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess. Appropriate to the hazy style, I'd say.

Overall: I like this beer quite a lot. It's got a relatively low bitterness, and there's enough variation in the hop character between aroma and flavor that it remains interesting as I drink it. Good stuff!

"The Other Coast" is described as a hazy IPA and it is that. Quite cloudy in the IPA glass with adequate white foam but I would't say it's pretty. Some interesting aromas do fill the nose, from pink guava to a whiff of honeysuckle. Some slight sweetness followed by the back of the throat herbal gunk.

Overall this is kind of murky and too bitter for the light fizzy weight. I wish they had just given it a smaller dose of those wonderful aromatic hops and skipped the raw grain and seaweed soup flavors. From the 12 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station.
