Hazy rosy pink under a short-lived head, plenty of yeast sediment. No lacing. Nose is tart and lemony. Berries lurking in the background. Tart and lemony to taste. Noticeable berry finish. Also quite acidic at the end, which won't be to all tastes. Drinkable as a one off.

473 mL can from the LCBO; no packaging date. Served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy pinkish-amber colour, generating one finger of foamy off-white head with a slight pinkish tinge. It lingers for the better part of five minutes, eventually reduced to a smooth, filmy cap and creamy collar, along with a thin ring of lacing - looks about right for a berry sour, and something similar can be said for the aroma. I'm getting raspberry and strawberry yogurt, with hints of lemon, sugar and blackberry; light lacto characteristics. Good stuff so far.
Nothing fancy here, just a tart, fruity nip - I'm getting raspberry and lemony lacto sharpness at the forefront, backed by hints of grainy pale malts and milk sugar sweetness. Hints of strawberry, with suggestions of blue/blackberries towards the mildly tart finish; raspberry juiciness persists into the aftertaste, along with a hint of lactic acidity. Light-medium in body, with light carbonation that weakly brushes against the tongue, resulting in a soft, pillowy mouthfeel that is most likely being aided by the lactose. Downright sessionable, which is something I do not say about very many fruit beers, or sours for that matter.
Final Grade: 3.86, a B+. Steampunk Mixed Berry is a decently crafted fruit sour, which is at least slightly impressive coming from a brewery that is not at all known for producing sour beers. Its flavours of raspberry, strawberry and mild lactic acidity are nothing unusual or unique in the category, but it's competently executed and I enjoyed my can. Give it a try, especially if you've enjoyed raspberry or strawberry kettle sours in the past. Railway City has a few 'Steampunk' variants and I wouldn't mind trying a few more of them - that peach raspberry one definitely sounds good.
