Pours a nice amber colour with a midsized head. Citrusy nose. The taste is more tropical and grapefruit like than most west coast IPAs. The hops comes through more than the malts. Lingering aftertaste

473 mL can from the LCBO; one of four brews in Railway City's IPA Give'r Pack. Dated Oct 19 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a lightly fogged golden-amber colour, producing one finger of frothy, soapy white head that steadily dissipates over the next five minutes or so. As it recedes, a smooth coat of lace is evenly deposited on the glass, with its eventual remnants including a creamy collar and filmy cap. Looks great to me, and the aroma is also appealing, albeit subdued - I'm getting citrusy hints of lemon and grapefruit, with suggestions of tangerine, stone fruit, and piney hops.
Quite bitter, as you'd expect from a west coast IPA - lots of grapefruit and piney hops, backed by bready, grainy malts and a light caramelized sweetness. Finishes pithy, with more grapefruit, pine resin and earthy bitterness; lingering hints of orange and lemon fade in the earthy, persistent aftertaste. 'Boozy' is a stretch, so let's just say it wears its 7% on its sleeve. Medium-full bodied, with middling carbonation that lends a bit of a bite to its smooth, somewhat slick mouthfeel. I just love this stripe of IPA, so I found it very drinkable, but if you don't like bitter hop bombs it might not be your jam.
Final Grade: 3.90, a B+. Hudson 2850 could be my favourite beer in this Railway City mixed pack, as well as one of this brewery's best IPAs overall. Kind of old school, and not at all subtle in terms of bitter hop flavours - I'd buy this again without hesitation, and would say it's about on par with their Jumbo IPA, and better than Dead Elephant. Since they're all distinct IPAs of roughly similar quality, the decision for me (when faced with the choice of all three on the shelves) becomes "which can is most fresh", rather than which one I like more than the others. Hudson might be just that, but what I really need to do is get all three of 'em and do a side-by-side comparison.
