473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Railway City's Winter Give'R gift pack; dated Sep 26 2022 and served barely chilled.
Pours a ruddy, clear copper-amber colour, crowned with nearly two fingers of frothy, foamy beige-coloured head that lasts for a little over five minutes. A messy swath of sticky lace adheres to the glass, with a sudsy collar and patchy cap continuing to grace the surface. Very spicy aroma, with allspice, ginger and cinnamon dominating the nose, in that order. I'm also getting hints of clove, vanilla and anise, with molasses and brown sugar adding a saccharine quality to its spicy bouquet; the overall vibe is like a spicy root beer.
Very heavily spiced, to the point where I didn't find this especially drinkable. Caramel, molasses and sugary root beer at the forefront, with cinnamon and gingerbread quickly gaining ground. It just gets spicier from there, with allspice and vanilla surging at the tail end of the sip, followed by a spicy-sweet aftertaste; the cinnamon/allspice linger far longer than I'd prefer. Very slight hint of booze, and its presence is probably for the better. Medium in body, with gentle carbonation that weakly nudges the surface of the palate; feels smooth, but clings to the tongue somewhat.
Final Grade: 3.33, barely squeaking out a B-. If asked to demonstrate why I don't really care for spiced ales, Twice Checked Winter Spiced Ale would make for a solid 'exhibit A'. This is not a terrible beer, it's just an incoherent cacophony of jumbled flavours; too much for my taste buds, like drinking potpourri tea. In spite of its lack of drinkability, it does have a few strong points: it's visually attractive in a glass, and the aroma is pleasant if you're partial to gingerbread and winter spices. I doubt I'd buy this again, and wouldn't recommend it unless you *really* enjoy spiced beers.

Pours a deep amber colour with a thick head atop. Cinnamon and malts on the nose. The taste is a cornucopia of seasonal spices: Cinnamon Nutmeg Cloves Caramel and even Apples. Nice during holiday season. Mouthfeel is bubbly
