Crafted by Railway City's brew master Amanda Fehr, this beer is a tribute to her expertise and a celebration of International Women's Day.
Fehr Game is a beautifully balanced Irish Red Ale elevated with bourbon-infused French oak chip. Expect the classic malty richness of an Irish red, complemented by smooth bourbon warmth, with enticing hints of caramel and vanilla in every sip.

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Railway City's 2025 Give'R mixed pack. Dated Oct 7 2025 and served barely chilled.
Pours a clear reddish-bronze, with crimson red hues when held to the light. Situated atop is an inch of frothy, khaki-tinged head that settles off within a couple of minutes' time, whittled down to a sudsy collar and thin cap. No lace initially, but there is some deposition after each sip. Interesting aroma with notes of oak and bourbon, interspersed with hints of caramel, woodsy hops and bready, biscuity malts. Maybe a bit of a root beer/sarsaparilla thing going on, too.
A quality malt-forward red ale. I'm getting toffee, bready malts, toasted grains and bruised apples, with the bourbon and oak flavours asserting themselves by mid-sip. Maybe 'assert' isn't the correct verbiage - they're actually rather mellow, blending in beautifully with the base maltiness, then fading into a mildly sweet aftertaste. Medium-light in body, with a creamy mouthfeel punctuated by the gentle prickle of this brew's light carbonation. Ridiculously drinkable.
Final Grade: 3.9, a B+. Fehr Game didn't blow me away right off the bat, but by the time I was halfway through the glass, I had really come to appreciate it. The bourbon/oak aspect is handled with a delicate touch, which was probably the right choice for a 5-ish % Irish red: it's a noticeable factor, but it's not necessarily the primary focus. Plus, it's just *so* easy to toss back. Here's hoping they brew another batch of this and get it on LCBO shelves before St. Patrick's Day - it sure beats the pants off of Smithwick's and Kilkenny.
