Scenic Route is a bright, approachable session IPA that nails the balance between hop flavour and drinkability. It's full of vibrant tropical fruit character with a restrained bitterness that keeps it light and sessionable. It's an easy-drinking beer that doesn't skimp on flavour.

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Railway City's 2025 Give'R mixed pack. Dated Sep 30 2025 and served barely chilled.
Pours clear and effervescent, its pale straw yellow-hued body graced with nearly three fingers of billowing, foamy white head that lasts for more than five minutes. It deposits multiple gobs of sticky lace that cling tenaciously to the glass, as it eventually erodes down to a lumpy quarter-inch cap and soapy collar. Looks amazing. Light suggestions of citrus and passion fruit on the nose, with hints of gritty, grainy pale malts, wheat husk and apples.
An inoffensive session IPA, but it's somewhat lacking in personality. The malt backbone features grainy wheat and a faint crackery sweetness, while the hop bill offers up suggestions of lemon rind, tropical fruit and piney, grassy hops. Fruity finish that quickly fades to a dry aftertaste. Light in body, with spritzy carbonation that adds a crisp bite early on in the session, but loses its potency rather quickly. A little thin, even for 3.7%, but very easy to slug back.
Final Grade: 3.52, a B grade. Railway City's Scenic Route is the kind of beer that I'll drink once without complaint, and then move on to something else. Even for a session IPA, it's a little underwhelming - In fact, I'd say it's the weakest beer in this mixed pack by a comfortable margin. I'd prefer a Whistle Stop, but if you're happy with an ultra-light ale that has some hop content, well then, um, this fits that description.
