This came courtesy of the czar of Kvass craziness, woodychandler. Poured from a brown plastic 2 liter bottle. Has a damn near black color with no head whatsoever. Smell is of dark breads, raisins. Taste is the same as the aroma, some molasses and sweetness are present. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable Kvass

Boy, if I didn't catch enough flak during NBS Week 731, today's New Back to the Beer Future Sunday, Part 3, Mission II, (Week 761) is really gonna bring me down! I have solidly returned to a Sunday of Kvasses & while I CAN't be happier, many are unhappy with me as an Amerikanski. 8=(
From the Bottle: "Bread Kvass is ideal for quenching thirst as well as maintain the body's circulatory and nervous system. Natural ingredients enhance immunity." (from the Cyrillic).
For this one, RussianTable.com sent me a massive 2-L Bottle! Phew. I unscrewed the cap, charged my glass nearly to the rim & then replaced the cap, sealing it with duct tape for @tone77 's anticipated pick-up later this week. Once again, I got a brief finger of fizzy, foamy, light-tan head with limited retention, quickly falling to wisps. Color was Dark Brown to Very Dark Brown (SRM = > 27, < 34) with NE-quality clarity & garnet highlights. This one smelled very authentic with a bready, raisin-y semi-sweetness underlain by a slight sourness. Mouthfeel was thin, a quirk of the style. (Shrug.) The taste was just about perfect - it was very bready, very raisin-y, slightly chocolaty with a tangy sourness so that I did not think that I was drinking soda pop. Finish was semi-sweet to semi-dry, a product of its sweet & sour flavor profile.
Would I want the full 2-L all to myself? Heck, no! I am getting a sugar rush from all of this & that would just be too much. Once I pass of the remainder to @tone77, I hope that he has people to share it/them with. If not, so be it. I do not expect him to drink all of it by himself.
OTOH, if I did not have him, I would take all of it with me to a monthly beer share that I routinely attend. Not everyone there is a fan, but there is a female Asian-American who reads Cyrillic, likes Kvass & ate some of my homemade Okroshka who would definitely go sharesies with me.
