A thanks to my comrade, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a brown plastic 1.5 liter bottle. Has a black color with no head whatsoever. Smell is of rye bread, raisins. Taste is rye, molasses, a little bit on the sweet side. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is pretty good Kvass.

Boy, if I didn't catch enough flak during NBS Week 731, today's New Back to the Beer Future Sunday, Part 3, Mission II, (Week 761) is really gonna bring me down! I have solidly returned to a Sunday of Kvasses & while I CAN't be happier, many are unhappy with me as an Amerikanski. 8=(

From the Bottle: "Taste and Benefits of Nature" (from the Cyrillic).

For this one, RussianTable.com sent me a mere 1.5-L Bottle! Phew. I unscrewed the cap, charged my glass nearly to the rim & then replaced the cap, sealing it with duct tape for @tone77 's anticipated pick-up later this week. I got a brief finger of fizzy, foamy, light-tan head that quickly dissipated into wisps. Color was Dark Brown to Very Dark Brown (SRM = > 27, < 34) with NE-quality clarity & garnet highlights. Nose had a chocolaty rye & raisin breadiness. Nice. Mouthfeel was thin, a drawback of the style. The taste was less sharp than many today, but at the same time, it did not trade this for cloying sweetness, either. It tasted very bready with a rye bite and a light chocolatiness. Finish was semi-sweet. This might not have been strictly traditional, but it was among the more palatable of the day. YMMV.
