i kind of been putting off this beer for a while. look is good. smell is chocolate coffee. initial taste is coffee, but i assume the coffee flavor degraded because of how long i took to drink this. good though

Draught pour at Neighborhood. Nose was a bit mute, taste was nice with some smokey attributes. Mouthfeel was on the thinner side for an imperial porter. Something in the finish I didn't care for, and it lingers.

Type: 22-oz. bottle
Glass: Groomsman mug
From: Bine & Vine in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $9.99
Purchased: Feb. 26, 2016
Consumed: Feb. 27, 2016
Misc.: Bottled in Oct. 2015
Looking forward to this one. A very underrated brewery collab with arguably the best bottleshop in San Diego. I’ve recently had some real good brews from New English and will eventually get around to reviewing them. I think this one is going to be in the 4.25-4.35 range.
Poured a dark reddish brown color with 3-to-4 fingers of frothy, khaki tan head. Very good layered foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled dark, roasty coffee beans, bitter dark chocolate, dark toffee, cocoa powder and hazelnut. Awesome. (Smell - 4.75)
Taste follows the nose nicely. Got those same dark roasted coffee beans, bitter dark chocolate, hazelnut, dark cocoa powder and espresso. Could hardly taste the alcohol. (Taste - 4.50)
Full body. Creamy texture. Soft carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Fell - 4.25)
This beer was just awesome. I wasn’t expecting as much coffee, but I couldn’t imagine anything else. Just fantastic. (Overall - 4.50)

This beer was thrust into my hands by rawfish after a beer at Churchill’s in October, completely unprovoked; considering I’d been thinking about tracking it down, a lovely coincidence. Thanks again sir! 22 oz. bomber split with my wife.
The pour is dark brown with ruby highlights that belong in one of those god-awful Kay commercials. Plenty of fizz. The smell gives positive vibes, like cocoa with a shot of coffee. Nice.
Adams Avenue Imperial Porter is a reboot on the style, without help desk involvement. Lovely roast, nice chocolate, solid bitterness runs through the finish, light sweetness that almost slips into lactose right at the end. Bit of nut brown ale, too. Easy to sip, especially for a near-beer.
If you were to stick a standard in the porter field, it would have Bine & Vine rampant. This is a lovely example of the style & a very good brew.
