On-tap at Bootlegger's
A: The beer pours amber in color with a finger or two of khaki colored head.
S: Smells a bit off. Sort of funky with a bit of feet to it. There is a decent amount of toast and bready malts, but it's very sweet and has a bit of a candy smell. Smells lightly fruity, with some pears, perhaps.
T: The taste is even more strange. Lots of sugar with a big cotton candy and bubblegum flavor. Slightly bitter with some toast and bread malt flavors. There's a similar funkiness that I would say is reminiscent of blue cheese.
M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation.
D: I like a good ESB, but this didn't really fit the bill. Really strange and funky, but okay in some aspects.

On-tap at Bootlegger's,
A: Pours a light amber with a pleasing medium white head, fair lace.
S: Toasty, nutty malts with the blatanly American hop presence, intriguing but a mild smell.
T: The malt is very much English in style, with toffee, toast, and some light caramel. The American hops come in with a bang, grapefruit, unbalancing the beer somewhat, but still a good flavour.
M: Soft carbonation, lighter body than I'd expect for 6%, but an easy drinking feel which is good in a bitter.
D: Not a bad beer, an interesting mix of styles. Fans of the more Americanized ESB will like this.
