On tap at Bootlegger's Brewery in Fullerton, CA.
Pours a hazy orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, smoked malt, and nutty aromas. Taste is much the same with smoke and nutty flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a pretty nice smoke presence.

1127th Review on BA
Growler to Pint
Filled on 3/1/12. Consumed same day
App- A perfect looking amber with some edges and center of a medium colored brown. Fairly soda like in clarity. A 1/2 finger head was present and was about egg shell white in color. Zero cling and maybe a small ring of bubbles.
Smell- A lot lighter in smoke than I was anticipating. Was happy to smell that. Didn't want to be punched in the face with it. A little bit of BBQ seasonings with some malty backbone, a little bit of pepper and lemon.
Taste- A lot less smoke than I was anticipating and I was very happy about that. A little bit of a bacon flavor. Some backing amber malts and a couple flavor notes of bitter.
Mouth- A bit of a lighter medium body with a medium amount of bubbles that left a little bit of smoke and bbq flavors.
Drink- Overall, wasnt the best or the worst smoke beer I have had. I found it drinkable and enjoyable but not something I would seek out again.

The pour is sort of a hazy amber color with an off-white head. Initially the smoke is light and it mostly smells of bananas. There is a nice sweetness of malt to it, mostly toffee and bread. Maybe a bit of vanilla in there. The flavor has a stronger smoke character to it. It’s got a bit of salt and almond flavor as well as a nice toastiness and some sweet toffee malt.
